I, hopefully with the help of my wonderful clanmates, will be starting a large project tomorrow consisting of everything from the discovery of the traveler to the golden age to the collapse and to just a little bit after ending of course [b]with your precious tower[/b] I was playing earlier and i scrolled over my lovely throbbing exotic helmet Achylophage Symbiote when i noticed for the first time its flavor text.[quote]They told me it would eat my thoughts and leave me full of Light[/quote]I decided i must dig deeper into this and i used a wonderful little site called moreword. i first I search ach which clearly must be ache and therefore to throb, which this helmet clearly does. Now we have ach so lets look for lyo. i find thanks to dictionary.reference.com that lyo in combining form is indicating dispersion or dissolution. Dissolution:[quote]the act or process of resolving or [b]dissolving into parts or elements[/b][/quote] Continuing onward we have phage, or as i found macrophage.[quote]a large phagocytic cell found in stationary form in the tissues or as a mobile white blood cell.[/quote] going further i searched phagocytic[quote]cells that protect the body by ingesting harmful foreign particles[/quote]i feel the more important one is the phagocytic definition. Last we have Symbiote. This likely comes from symbiotic, and therefore symbiotic relationship with the wearer. So this implies that the achlyophage symbiote is actually a living helmet that feeds off of something in us. So to combine it all we end with cells that protect the body from harmful foreign particles by dissolving them. From the flavor text we see it eats your thoughts and leaves you full of light. This particular helmet could also be a nod in the direction of Dark Souls and more directly Solaire. - thanks Lastboss xx Now let's speculate a little further in this. So going off of my previous speculations we have the plane of existence we live in and the void. From the void comes the Traveler, The Darkness, the ahamkara, and likely many more creatures of lesser and greater quality. A leech could very well be one, a leech known as an achlyophage. Existing in the void in symbiotic relationships with beings corrupted with darkness it feeds. In our plane of existence it clings to a helmet and feeds off of the darkness of a guardian, this does imply that we are corrupted to some extent which i believe to be true. Toland embraced the corruption and mastered it. Whoever Dredgen Yor was embraced it and failed. It could be that the achly leech feeds off of our darkness, allowing us to fill with light and therefore giving our golden gun that wonderful extra shot.
