You know that 30+ characters only do the same damage as 30's

I don't know why a lot of people say this. When I was a 32, my Black Hammer only did 14k dmg and with Weapons of Light it did 20k. Now it does 17k base damage and 22k with WoL. And before you say it is because of ascended weapons, in Crota's end as a 34 you will be able to kill him in 2 swords even if you only go for 3 hits every time he goes down. TL;DR light level does make a difference. (Nothing earth-shattering though)

And as for crota, he is 2-3 levels ahead of vog so at level 34 you do more damage. Doing crota hard you are still only 1-2 levels ahead of him so your extra damage has not capped.

No u dont. Guardians are stuck at the same level as the enemy. Always even in low level story mission. Enemies however can be higher level than you. Before house of wolves, we were stuck at 32 while hard mode crota was level 33. So we did less damage becuase we were a level below. Now we are on the same level as crota so we do more damage. Thats why it only takes 1-2 swords to kill him. The only bonus u get for being 34 is the higher armor stats. Thats all. As for atheon and black hammer is concerned . 365 weapons do more damage than 300. But the big difference you are noticing is that when someone is using perk for defender titan i think its call illuminated. The benefits of weapons and blessing of light are further increased. So tht difference is probably when someone has that perk versus someone tht using that perk.

I did it once at 29, I honestly don't notice the difference that much. It just took a little longer.
