For everyone demanding that Year 1 gear be used well into Year 2 you are insane....

The game has to move forward & I am okay with that

1105

I never want things to change

436

I will move on but I'm sad to see them go

2548

Do you people not understand how progress works? They are going to increase the level cap to 50 people. That means that you won't be able to keep your level 32-34 gear. Just like you didn't get to keep using the russian rifle you get in the beginning of the game forever and ever and had to move on to a new gun. You don't get to choose when you stop progressing or get to demand that nothing changes. People talk about gamer entitlement and for the most part I think its bullshit, but what I am seeing here is the definition of entitlement. You all want all the new content , but you don't wanna give up what you already have. You demand that you get to keep using the same stuff forever unless you find something better. Thats not how games works. Especially games that are expansion based. When the Reaper of Souls expansion came to Diablo 3 you didn't get to keep using your old gear. You had to move on to the new content. When WoW releases a new expansion you don't get to keep using your old gear. Whe CoD/Halo releases a new game you don't get to keep the gear you were already using in the previous installment. This is an ACTUAL expansion for Destiny. Not the hollow husks that we got like HoW and TDB yet even THEY forced us to move on to new raid gear and new weapons. But you think that TTK is somehow different? Despite the fact that it will supposedly contain more than double what HoW and TDB had combined? Exotics will of course be able to be upgraded, but if you think you should able to be using a Fatebringer (A Level 30 Weapon) and it still be JUST as good as it ever was at Level 50 then you people are out of your minds. I understand that some people are attached to their weapons and I also understand that some of you still haven't even GOTTEN the weapons in question yet so you don't wanna see that effort go to waste but this is how it has ALWAYS worked when it comes to expansions. Year 1 gear WILL be pushed to the background especially now that they are even releasing new gun makers. Do you really think they would go through all of this trouble and effort of creating all this new content, but still let everyone use and abuse the old stuff as well? EDIT: Just to be clear I am speaking about PvE exclusively. I know that in PvP you will obviously be able to use whatever you want. I am talking about PvE where numerical stats actually matter. EDIT 2: Also just to be clear I am not claiming they are gonna REMOVE the old guns. I am simply saying that by increasing the level cap they will be forcing you to REPLACE the old guns.

  • I merely ask for the ability to take a single gun with me if they do make the old guns unable to be ascended further. Want my beloved broken truth to come with me, and i shall be content

  • We should be able to use every weapon available in Destiny for its entire lifespan. That is, until Destiny 2.

  • In my point if view, I understand Bungie, BUT after the announcement I gave my self second thoughts about leveling up weapons and spend amounts of motes to get the perfect roll at the gunsmith, just for a couple of months. Yes, the weapons I'm holding now are good to play with in th E beginning and do give the upperhand to get an early start, just like in The Dark Below, but the effort and Etheric Light grinding isn't worth it. I play a lot less now, from every day just to two dys a week. I enjoy Desriny, but I don't NEED to play it that heavily to be ready for TTK

  • WOW BUNGIE, JUST -blam!-ING WOW. Another shitty move by Bungie. It looks like they're inc0nsiderate morons who don't care about others. First it was with RedBull crap about Buy a can and get a Focused Light and a Quest! Like -blam!-ing damn Bungie, you forced me to buy a damn can of RedBull when I clearly like Monster! WHAT THE HELL? Your purposefully made me spent my hard-earned money on something I don't even like!! JUST DAMN WOW! I'm very disappointment of what Bungie has become. Because of this, I quilt.

I don't see why year one guns can't stay relevant. I'll agree that they're obsolete if Bungie announces TTK as a whole new game(Destiny 2). But it makes no sense to trash gear every dlc. I never had to get rid of my old guns in Fallout or in Halo 3 when the heroic map pack came out. Just my opinion.

      • You people keep quoting grind. You don't know grind. On to my point. When I played everquest, a game which required months to years of constant play early on, I didn't bitch when expansions replaced the weapons/armor I worked so hard for. I didn't complain when my epic fists were replaced by raid weapons. For the record, epic weapons could take months to complete early on when they were introduced. I didn't complain when quested blues outright replaced raid gear in WoW expansions. I won't complain when Destiny does the same thing. Your all free to leave at any time. That, or you can just continue to run VoG for 10 years. I'll go for actual progression.

        • You can't say that something has always worked a given way when you have a sample size of exactly one. Destiny isn't an MMO like WoW, and it doesn't claim to be. The idea behind making these expansion packs is to expand the game, not merely to force players down a different path from the one they spent so long forging. They should (and hopefully intend to) give players new options instead of replacements. As for your argument that they spent too much time on the gear to have it go to waste, they also spent a load of time on the old gear. Just imagine all of the choices we'll have by year 10 if they keep expanding the game in the way they are currently progressing. We'll be able to play with newer players and do combat with weapons they haven't even heard of and that's really cool.

          • It all come down to diversity. With weapons I can see how this would be for the better of the game but for God sakes not again with the armor. The dark below had every guardian wearing the same crap and now look at all this diversity I love it. if they take away this great new edition to the game we will all go back to looking the same and that really sucked.

          • I have no problems with new weapons and gear, why not give us the option of old vs new? They should be able to out do themselves! The new weapons they bring in should out right make weapons like the fate bringer, or felwinters lie irrelevant. I feel as if people are giving the creators all the power, when it is us, the gaming community who has the loudest voice, and the strongest punch. They are taking the easy route. We don't get the option to grind for more material to keep advancing our guns. That should be a choice. They should feel challenged to make better and more interesting guns than what we already have. Instead all of that grinding, all of those hours doing the vault of glass, getting all the amour pieces from Crota. Kinda feels like they want to erase half of year one. Ie: all those weapons we can't level up. That's a lot of hours to a lot of people. I m all for new weapons! I need new weapons! Why can't they expand the vault further so we can house more guns? Referring to reaper of souls, they made the chest significantly larger with the expansion. If they made the vault larger and made the weapons upgradable there wouldn't be a problem. Everyone would be happy. Bungie has to out do itself! Make the old guns irrelevant, then slowly phase them out.

            • I think there's guns that should still be usable, not the best, but still decent, effective weapons. For example, I think fatebringer should always be considered a high tiered pve weapon. Maybe not the best, but I don't think a gun this well liked should just be forgotten in the vault and used as a trophy either

            • So what is going to be the point for the raids? They are already a joke but lets be serious on the weaponry. Most of the vault raid gear i happen to like all of them have decent stats/perks. So there will be no point to doing them. Now or later. Should i just quit destiny for a few years and wait for the "Finished" product?

            • Its a shoot in loot game, whats the point in looting for new shiny weapons if we use the same gun 10 years later? I will admit I'll miss my old weapons, but at the same time I can't wait to see how the meta changes and what new weapons I'll be using.

              • I agree 100 percent that's why I'm not even upset with few nerfs coming and kind of silly for people to think that the year one weapons will stay forever, it's going to be obsolete.

              • What about raid weapons? They're some of the best in the game and are one way of getting rare elemental primaries. Not being able t ok ascend them renders vog and ce uaeless.
