Typically, I match make the weekly heroic strikes. When I go in, I look at the other players to get a general idea of what to expect out of them, and how to play to cover their weaknesses.
I guess I am judging them as I inspect them... I look at Grimoire/level first, then I look art weapon loadouts, then armor choice. Last, I look at their attribute setup. This alone can tell you a bit about the player. If they have a poor distribution of attributes, like 380 strength... Then they more than likely just have their highest light armor on, and don't have as much time in/experience to have developed an optimum allocation of attributes.
In today's heroic strikes for example, most did not have maxed weapons, and I think only one out of 6 was using void weapons for void burn. Needless to say, I did 3 runs around 100 kills, with the next guy around 50 and the last around 25.
When I inspect players during ToO, Grimoire can be misleading. As there are plenty of good PvP players with lower Grimoire, just as there are plenty of mediocre PvP players with high Grimoire. What is more important is weapon loadouts and armor choices. Also looking at their armor/recovery/agility distribution is also important. Especially if they have the ram.
