look at it this way, what if gally was just nerfed to the point where it is still powerful, but other exotics can now compete for max damage, If thunder lord, truth, or even dragons breath are all at a point where they can compete with the gally, that gives more options for max damage, which in turn gives LFG's a bigger selection of must have weapons, which mellows out the must have gally situation.

Gally's advantage has always been that it delivers its damage potential quickly in "lump sum" that you can fire off with minimal exposure to enemy fire, and that tracking and Wolfpack rounds meant little of the potential damage is wasted. Bungie has tried to counter this in PoE by leaving mobs near bosses, so Wolfpack track and kill them instead of the bosses (if you don't kill the mobs first). Perfect example is the kalicks reborn PoE (last week's 32). If you went right, killed the adds (including the the specials he uses to recharge), then two people with gjallarhorn can burn him down before the "important target" comes out. If you don't take out the mobs first ... Good luck with that. Post nerf, we'll have to re-evaluate and see what strategies are still viable.
