I know it was just an example however any competent blink user would of noticed that you also began your jump before they enter their blink. That information paired with the radar would allow them to find you near instantly. Now on inferno game types you have a point. Blink isn't just limited to that though. It also allows you to escape and reach favorable positions unlike any other jump can. Pair this capability with tlw and your opponents are going to have a lot of tears.

  • Blink does allow you to escape. But it does not allow you to gain as favor ale positions as Titans Lift, for example, or the hunters air-floating style of triple jumps.

  • If time wasn't an issue then I would agree with you. However in this shoot em up style game time is definitely an issue. The fact that blink can instantly get you to a favorable position will gain you precious seconds on your opponent compared to the other slower jumps. In a game where even the worst archetype of guns can kill you in little over a second this is huge.

  • If you Blink and I jump, I've neutralized any advantage you had. At that point it's 50/50 and comes down to who can acquire a bead on whom first. Also disagree on Blink being more versatile as a jump. I'm not saying Blink isn't devastating when mastered, but a big part of that is people not knowing how to react to it. No matter how good you are at Blink, you still need that split second to orient yourself when you reappear and that's all the window it takes to evade and try to counter. We have these great vertical abilities and outside of Blink barely anyone uses them during exchanges and I'm not sure why.

  • Not exactly. The reason why the person who blinks still has a lead is because they can choose exactly when in their jump to use it while their opponent must react to it. However that isn't the only advantage to blink. If the blink user blinks away from their target and uses a weapon such as tlw then they still hold the advantage. (with quick draw and some cover to blink to this can be quite nasty). Blink allows you to instantly relocate. I think this is a huge tactical advantage but to each their own. I agree that people knowing how to react to it does help. However against blinkers who don't just blink shotgun and use the other aspects of blink then it just isn't fair anymore. In my opinion blink shot gunning is only using 20% of blinks full potential. It is so much more op then just that. I agree at closer distances it does take longer to re-orientate. However if I make sure the target is not at close range and at mid range then no matter what they do I don't have to re orientate. That is because they cannot possibly leave my field of vision so no adjustments need to be made. I believe the reason is because those vertical abilities are much slower and are a little harder to shoot from. This makes you extremely visible, less maneuverable and less accurate (on average) then your opponents. That is why I think the quicker lower lying ariel abilities like blink, the hunters jumps and control on the Titan are favored.
