And I'm very much not. You don't make weapons useless. That's just poor game design.

  • Being able to jump away from a weapon that would otherwise kill you if you didn't isn't making the weapon useless. Not seeing your jump to this particular extreme. The idea is to make it harder for people to manipulate blink's offensive capability. Has little to do with the effectiveness of the shotgun itself. People blink shotgun because it's difficult to counter it. If I can jump to avoid getting blink shotgunned, I'd rather be able to do so as consistently as possible. This isn't trying to make anything useless. Just trying to counter.

  • They aren't nerfing blink. They're nerfing shotguns. The much reviled "long range" shotguns start suffering significant damage fall off at about 15 yards. They have an effective range slightly larger than the diameter of a titan's bubble. Any significant nerf means that merely using your jump power places you out of effective range. Should Angel of Light be absolute protection from shotguns? Because that's more or less what you're arguing for. Further, shotguns are not just used in PvP. We use them quite a bit in PvE. Have you played with the shielded teleporting captain ultras in PoE? They can eat a full magazine of shotgun to the face and still be trying to decapitate you. Which they can do with a single hit. Go visit them a bit and then tell me that shotguns need a nerf.

  • ...I don't think you're understanding my point. And I really don't feel like trying to reiterate it to make it any clearer. I'm really only saying that I'm not familiar with countering blink shotgunning with jump. It's said to be viable. I'm simply hoping so. I wasn't arguing for a nerf of shotguns because that's already happening as it is. And yes, that poses a problem in PvE. Please don't treat me like I've never done Prison of Elders before. I'm aware of the enemies' ability to tank hits and overkill in return.

  • Oh, countering a blink with jump is viable move. I approve of the tactic. When you blink, you're blind. When you come out of it, you have to reorient yourself and reacquire your target. Since you're in the air, that normally involves looking down. If the target is somewhere unexpected, such as above them, the would be target has the drop on them. I haven't actually seen somebody try to abuse blink like that. Where you wind up isn't an exact science. At best, it's a high risk, high reward play. But I hear it does happen. It is awfully handy for getting past chokepoints and ambushes, though. Or getting yourself out of trouble. (Getting into it, too. Like I said, you're jumping blind.)

  • From my experience, which isn't a whole lot, mind you, you blink forward or upwards. Blindly. Some people have it down to a science, and they're dangerous thus with a shotgun, others like me, kinda just blink everywhere. Again, blindly.
