I Laugh Every Time I See a Player with 0.3 K/D say They Will Rock PvP after Weapon Patch
If you are seriously struggling in PvP, let me burst your bubble now and say you will not magically start owning in PvP just because Thorn and TLW are getting nerfed. After the "Re balance" you will still get owned in PvP. This patch will mostly impact players who are already doing well in PvP but want to try different weapons and still be competitive. If you are horrible, the patch ain't going to make you an amazing PvP player overnight.
Edit: I Don't care what your k/d is or if you are good or not. My point is that the weapon patch will not take someone who is consistently at the bottom of the score board to the top over night. It will not make a team who struggle to get few wins to flawless in ToO over night.

When I first started playing (around the time the Crota expansion hit), I jumped into Crucible as a pre-level 20 and then again at level 20 with the fairly standard white/green/blue guns. I did OK. Not great, but mostly close to 1.0, and I competed enough to have fun. Lots of prior FPS experience, but not any Destiny experience. Since then, I've logged a lot of hours in Crucible and gotten significantly better. I'm now leveling a warlock to complete my platinum trophy, and when I hop into Crucible with those same white/green/blue guns, no exotics, etc, it is -considerably- harder to play competitively. I struggle to reach 1.0 or even get 10 kills. Flip to my hunter and right back at the top. I much prefer a Crucible balance that allows anyone to compete than plays to very strict metas.

1 ReplyLet me start first by saying that I'm a day one player and I suck at pvp. I've only did it in the past to Finish Bounty's and never really cared to "get gud". Recently I've been playing a little more pvp just to pass a little time and actually even ranked up a little during the last two iron banners for the first time. I had the thorn in my vault since January and didn't even use it untill I played iron banner last month and saw how disadvantage i was without it. So I maxed it out and now I've gone from a .65 k/d to almost always getting better than a 1.0 usually a 1.5 or higher using the thorn. So even though I still suck badly that gun can make a scrub a little less scrubby if you know what I'm saying.

I was playing against an idiot today. I had MIDA and a teammate had something else. Opponent stood in the tunnel between A & C firing Atheon's Epilogue into the tunnel at us both. Teammate was trading fire behind cover, so I went round the side. Expecting to get tagged but essentially buy my teammate the kill and control of the choke point. The dumb opponent was still blindly firing as I appeared at his side with all the time in the world to line up the headshots needed for a kill with MIDA. Not Thorn. Not TLW. Not Red Death. Not the Vex. Not Felwinter's. But MIDA. Weapon balancing won't affect braindead players. I'm not even statistically average, I'm a 0.88 on my Hunter, but I felt on another level compared to that.

No difference to me. I acknowledge openly I suck big time in PvP, weapon patch doesn't change this fact until I polish my skills. Nuf said…

8 RepliesI said this on other threads, the top tier player it won't affect at all. Up close TLW will still wreck people, and the good players tend to close fast and get their kills at CQ. Thorn we shall see, I still think it will be good, if Scouts become a bit better we shall see some rocking the Mida no doubt. AR's getting buffed is a good thing, they were utterly horrible after the nerf, again the good player will just out strafe people like in vanilla Destiny. Like you said good players will be good players no matter the weapon nerfs, in fact the average player will suffer more as the weapons are less of a crutch now, and in theory gunskill should be more rewarding. I can look forward to being on farm status more! haha

Back in the day it was amazing wrecking with up for anything. Now, I can't do that. With this update I could probably do it again. I think that's what people mean. They were probably better before the meta we have now came into play. And since thorn took over crucible they have gotten worse so they mean when thorn and stuff go away, they can be better again

Yes you are right, however it will provide a far less steep learning curve which is how it should be.

If anything they will do worse. Anything that lengthens TTK increases the skill gap so the good players will do better and the bad players will get worse.

Definitely will agree with OP. I'm a decent PVPer and won't really be affected by a lot of the nerfs. I'm just glad I'll hopefully see less of those two hand cannons and see a lot more variety. With the WB, can't wait for the new IB to come around. See how weapons actually do versus each other.

I don't see why people think hardlight is going to be amazing. It is going to have the same horrible range Bungie has decided Auto Rifles are going to be effective at. It's only the rebounding projectiles that don't have range drop off. That's just too situational..

This weapon patch won't mean much in the sense that players that are good will go bad and players that are bad will turn good. If you're good you're good if you're bad you're bad.
