You are so wrong. I absolutely guarantee you that the dot for black hammer will far exceed any other sniper for those 18 shots. And as a matter of fact I agree with you about those other snipers being good now and I wonder why you aren't happy that the only option is not black hammer now there are other options. Black hammer will still have highest and fastest dot for any sniper but it's great that other snipers are not so far back.
Yeah you worked hard and are disappointed it's not an easy button anymore. It may not be an easy button but it is still going to be incredibly viable.
In addition to all this. It does bonus damage to hive on crit, making it even more still an option against the hive.

I don't use it as an easy button, and DoT isn't really something I'm ever focused on. I've got a Gjallarhorn and Solar Machine guns for that. Yes it will still be the best sniper against Hive. Yes it will still be a crazy hard hitting sniper. Still the others will be a better choice for most of MY activities, especially since I have them in multiple flavors. Why am I disappointed? Because it was fun to use. I didn't use it much, but it was fun, hence the reason I play video games, for fun and enjoyment. It was a hoot trying to get three quick precision shots that didn't always process correctly because you got free ammo and the bonus announcement, much like getting the extra life at 10,000 points. I'm disappointed because the fun of this rifle was removed. I already used the other rifles plenty because they are arc. When it was a solar burn, this thing was a hoot and fun as Hell. Now, not so much.

I think you will find it still fun to use. Knowing what you have now said, I find it strange that someone disappointed so mildly would even bother posting this, it's more of a well it was fun to use then, oh well kind of thing. Life goes on, guns will come and go. It's the nature of this game, we would all do well to get used to it.

It did just start as a simple post, and I enjoy writing. Fun, I'm not sure. This has become a trend in Destiny. Suros used to be fun and exciting to use. Now when I use, I'm giving up firepower. Vex is now becoming less desirable, and I don't have one. Will I ever get one now? Is it worth it? Who knows. Weapons that were once fun are no longer. Sure I've adapted. I started using hand cannons more and Thorn is a hoot in PvE. Red Death is great, but it seems as the fun is being removed from these weapons, the game is becoming less enjoyable. I don't play like I used to, and I've been watching my friend stop playing Destiny. I'd rather not see this trend continue.

Hmm yes your simple post starts out with "terrible nerf." but I see it differently, I see it as every gun being able to become fun, that is the goal, it is the nature of us as gamers to try exploiting this as much as possible, and then bungie has to respond. There will always be a fun gun to use, red death and thorn became fun to use. They weren't always that way yet you adapted and they became fun, just like SUROS and vex were before the former. Yet this upcoming weapon balance is aimed at making them all fun to use. If that is the goal they are shooting for, why is it bad?
