Bungie nerfs Gjally, Gjally still reigns supreme.
Gjally does less DPS, so it'll become more relevant, since everyone in your fireteam will need one to output as much DPS as possible.
More and more posts with Gjally only will emerge on LFG.
JOB WELL DONE BUNGIE! Or am I missing something?
@Deej or @Cozmo : you're reading this? Elitism will prevail unfortunately. Go report that back to your game designers ;-)
Let me make it easy for you, lets say we need 225k damage to kill a boss. Gjally does 9k while other rockets do 6k. Everyone has 5 rockets, so a gjally user would do 45k damage, while a non gjally user will do 30k damage. Right now we need 3 gjally users and 3 different rockets to kill him. Now if we make ghorn do 40k per 5 shots, we'll need 4 gjally users and 2 regular rocket launchers and some extra shots from primary to kill it. Most people would go for the easy way where they don't need to shoot extra shots with primaries, that would mean people would require 5 gjallys to do what could've been done with 3 gjallys in the past.[
Important note: the patch hasn't come out yet, we're discussing different outcomes. Who knows what will happen next.

thunderlord does more damage....
-
-
There needs to be a mission / event / activity to earn Gjallarhorn
-
"No matchmaking. We're not here to find friends for you." "People are being excluded. Nerf the Gjallerhorn." Gotta love some sweet ass logic.
-
I don't think bungie knows what the hell they are doing anymore.
-
Lol you people make me laugh, when you all start being even more elitist bungie will respond by nerfing Gjallarhorn so hard that even the necrochasm performs better. Bungie made a blatant statement about the exclusion and elitism that Gjallarhorn is creating, you all are flat out ignoring it. Have fun making your favorite weapon become the biggest joke ever.

Ok bud :)
-
Yep, a lot of "Gjallahorn Elitist" posts are running riot in the forums
-
They just should've not put ghorn in the game
-
Watch Gjallarhorn do 6.5k damage and then everyone can start using DB for the higher DPS.

Interview with bungie about weapon balance
-
The problem with the elitism in reference to the Gjallarhorn is the fact that Bungie never implemented matchmaking for end game content. With matchmaking you would of had a huge majority of people experiencing the end game content thus less whining about getting locked out for not having it. This is more of the problem rather than the wolfpack rounds doing too much damage.

Can't make everyone happy Haters gonna hate
-
This will only make things worse unfortunately. All they had to do was better the clusterbomb function on the legendary RLs and make it closer to the GHorn. If you put a second delay after the initial hit of a Hunger of Crota and increase the number of clusters it would be more effective. Now that you nerfed the damage, doesnt that mean groups will make it even more necessary to have a Gjallarhorn to make up for nerfed damage? Ijs Bungie...
-
Now a gally elitist out of spite suck one bungie #nomoresherpa
-
Wait.. people still require gally for raids? It does help on skolas Did they actually say how much theyre neefing wolfpacks?
-
This is all true.
made a couple of people hate because i said ghally is required for skolas. Said it took 1'2 hours lol
-
People are getting upset about the perceived increase in LFG site "elitism". Try and understand that this forum community represents the vocal minority. Instead of worrying about an increase in exclusivity, just post for your own group and state "GHORN NOT REQ". You will have a team in no time.

Edited by An Oracle: 7/18/2015 12:02:17 PMI don't support the changes, but it isn't going to change anything for me. I still won't discriminate, and I'll still be able to beat the content. I've never been elitist. I play for fun. The only thing this patch is going to do for me is make the game less fun. That's why I don't like it. If you want to blame this on the exclusionist attitudes of others, go ahead...but it's been proven already that people would be ghorn elitists with or without the patch. All this patch does is bring out the closet elitists and give them that push to get over their trepidations. Edit: and fyi, if you're this angry over a weapon nerf that you're willing to exclude players just to spite Bungie, there's something really wrong with you. Grow up, and stop taking a video game so seriously.
-
But yeah keep doing the math and crunching all those numbers and fractions retard.
-
I really wish that instead of taking 2 months to prepare a mostly garbage sounding weapons apocalypse, they spend that time on working on a way to give us more vault space. You just know the new story & quests for TTK will dish out a bazillion emblems that you have no room for, not to mention all the new weapons and armour sets they're so loudly touting. No way in hell am I deleting any of my year 1 gear.
-
Bungie nerfing gjallarhorn, icebreaker, and black hammer was them admitting they don't know how to make boss fights. "Sorry we can't make anything more dynamic than stationary bullet sponges, here's a weapon nerf to make them last longer."
-
Never required a particular weapon for any activity...until now. There is a growing movement of players throughout the forums who never required any weapons for activities who are pissed about the coming nerf and those crying for it (most of which don't even own the weapon). In response they are requiring Ghorn for any and all activities. Extreme? Sure is, so is nerfing our best weapon which feels like a punishment and not a balancing act. If you thought lfg was bad now be prepared, it's coming down to if you don't have gjally then you can forget about raids, NF's, weeklies, & POE's unless you have friends. I for one am following suit.
-
....how does making gjallarhorn do less DPS make it more relevant?? That's a pretty big assumption with no supporting information
-
Your forgetting DB has just as good damage in the initial rocket and can deal D.O.T that can match wolfpacks hate to burst your bubble. P.S to all those who believe I m just a hater cuz I don't have 1 I already have 2 gallies
