Bungie nerfs Gjally, Gjally still reigns supreme.
Gjally does less DPS, so it'll become more relevant, since everyone in your fireteam will need one to output as much DPS as possible.
More and more posts with Gjally only will emerge on LFG.
JOB WELL DONE BUNGIE! Or am I missing something?
@Deej or @Cozmo : you're reading this? Elitism will prevail unfortunately. Go report that back to your game designers ;-)
Let me make it easy for you, lets say we need 225k damage to kill a boss. Gjally does 9k while other rockets do 6k. Everyone has 5 rockets, so a gjally user would do 45k damage, while a non gjally user will do 30k damage. Right now we need 3 gjally users and 3 different rockets to kill him. Now if we make ghorn do 40k per 5 shots, we'll need 4 gjally users and 2 regular rocket launchers and some extra shots from primary to kill it. Most people would go for the easy way where they don't need to shoot extra shots with primaries, that would mean people would require 5 gjallys to do what could've been done with 3 gjallys in the past.[
Important note: the patch hasn't come out yet, we're discussing different outcomes. Who knows what will happen next.

Very good point. Because we all know the boss designers aren't going to stop making bullet sponges any time soon :)

I will link my post about this here aswell : https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/139300234 https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3dlp2d/gajllarhorn_nerf_and_why_its_not_the_solution/

Xur will sell it. Problem solved!
-
Treat the scrubs that don't have a Gjallarhorn like they got aides till they cry and get it restored
-
Someone give this man a medal. So true
-
Well again depends on the nerf and how bad it's is. Gally does the same ammont or even less damage the dragons breath that will be pretty funny.
-
Unless of course Xur turns up with gjallarhorn in his bag of tricks...
-
You've got to put your bungie logic hat on. Listening to the useless saps that actually needed people to have ghorn to get things done is the key to good sensible game design... See - with your new hat everything makes perfect sense.

Agreed

As if extreme elitism already wasn't a problem. This is what's actually going to happen: the same people that are already requiring Gjallerhorn aren't gonna change, and neither are the people who aren't requiring it. Not sure where people are getting this, "More people are going to require Gjallerhorn," idea, cause literally nothing else about the situation has changed. Someone who doesn't require Gjallerhorn isn't suddenly going to because it got nerfed, that makes no sense. Someone who does already require Gjallerhorn is... well, already doing so.
-
Um yes you are missing something. The intent is for gally to no longer so far outclass every other rocket that to use any other rocket would be stupid. That is what they are doing. When gally is only slightly better than say... truth, people will care less if you dont have it. Btw i have max gally, so dont think i am for this nerf because i dont have the gun.
-
or you could just start using viable alternatives like HoC? why stipulate 3 or 4 of 1 type of gun when 2 of another will do equivalent dps post nerf? mix it up a bit maybe?
-
Missed the point

The way I see it, The gally nerf is supposed to bring other heavies usable in case you don't have one. Something like: "hey, let's do (insert activity name here) I want to finish it as fast as possible so bring a competent heavy." "I don't have gally, but I have a HoC, will that do?" "-blam!- it. That should do. Let's go." Or something like that. Honestly, I'm more worried about the black hammer nerf. The elitism for gally is not bungie's problem. It is the fault of our community, praising the weapon as a must-have equipment for almost everything. If there's anything that should be addressed, it is our attitude towards other people who don't have a gally. 2 cents worth. Not much, but there you go.
-
Wait until taken king comes out. The suros rocket people have been seeing? Hopefully that over takes gally
-
-
I don't have a gally pretty much the only exotic I don't have, I've completed all end game content with hunger including skolas (just took a bit longer 10 mins extra, maybe more) I never actually encountered the problem of not being invited to fire teams because I didn't have one, if you guys are gonna get all elitist and kick people without one then go right ahead that's your prerogative the rest of us don't actually give a shit, keep tugging each other off guardians...
-
Yes you're missing something. Ghorn isn't being nerfed to being useless. Even if Wolfpack rounds are nerfed by 25% it'll still do more damage than any other launcher (but Dragon's Breath DoT might be a contender). Also machine guns may well rise again as they deliver light to moderate damage but keep on firing.
-
I'm hoping that the update makes the PvE experience more like the first two weeks of VoG. Nobody really had any set weapons to use, and nobody judged. Hell, I was running SUROS, and some other guy on my team was running Thorn. There were no Gjallarhorns. Life was good.

-
Exactly. Those who don't have a ghorn are still in the same place they are now. Just keep playing until you get one.

Sooo Bungie sets out to help remedy the "must have max ghally" kiddos on LFG sites, only to do the exact opposite. How's that you might ask? Well, let me put it this way. You are thirsty. You want a glass of water. Deej comes over, Cozmo following while holding his inside-out pocket, and sets a glass of water in front of you, filled to the brim. The only way to relieve your thirst is to have a full glass of water. Only, Deej realizes this and leans over the glass, tips it just enough so that 10% spills out. He then motions for you to take the water. You do, drinking it completely. Now, you've finished the glass, sure, but you're still thirsty. You still need that other 10%. You then step away from Deej and his sidekick to go look for that remaining 10%. You stumble upon a second area where you find another player, just as thirsty as you, getting the same treatment from Luke Smith. You ask if that player would like to join your fireteam, as to take a sip of his water to make up for your lost 10%. He agrees and you both walk away, leaving Luke Smith throwing money at a TV screen with nothing but static on it and "golf clapping" to himself, only to do it over and over again. Sometimes backwards.

I wouldn´t be shocked if Xur sells the Ghorn today...

If there is beauty in destruction, why not nerf it?
