• You could never out drink Americans. True Americans don't drink that light crap. Interesting how that's how we're perceived, though. Whiskey all day

  • I spend most of my vacations in America and the irony is Most of your stores sell alcohol and because of that you don't have dedicated liquor stores. For convenience that's excellent how ever the bulk of these places only sell what's brewed locally of mass produced and easy to acquire. Which does lead to a lot of light beers on the shelf. Here we have liquor stores, that in order to draw people in try and have as diverse a selection as feasibly possible. A decent store is still within 5 blocks, and an amazing store with every import, export and micro brewery in stock kind of store, multiple stores in each city.
beers do not top out at 7% alcohol, beefy beers are quite abit higher (~.•)
• I'm curious as to where you went in the States, because we have far too many dedicated liquor stores in my area haha

  • You must stay in tourist areas a lot. I assure you there are plenty of "dedicated" liquor stores through out America.

That depends where you live. Every state is different

  • You could even have differences between towns and cities, some states used to have laws where it needed to be brewed within the state in order to be sold. Thankfully that's no longer the Case

I don't know where you visit in America but you can only get liquor in liquor stores here (typically wine and liquor stores). You can't get it in grocery stores like you can beer. Some states you can't get beer in grocery stores at all but rather you have to go to what's called a beverage center. Not really sure what you're talking about. Where I live, there are 5 liquor stores within a 15 mile radius.

  • In Michigan, you can get your beer, wine & liquor at any grocery store

  • Within 15 miles? The town I live in is 2 miles across, 7000 people and we have atleast 5 liquor stores. In the city it's every 3-5 blocks where ever there's a strip mall or set of corner stores.

  • OK? I live in a town of about 50,000. The closest liquor store from where I live is maybe 2 miles. You can get liquor easily where I'm at so I'm not sure what your point is.

  • Well that narrows down where you live lol http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5710135 The majority of states, it's legal

  • Not really, that map shows that half the country you can't buy liquor in grocery stores. Yes, I live in a state in which you can't but if it's so narrowed down as you say, which one is it? (Don't cheat and look at another post of mine in this thread lol)

I'm not going to play detective lol My point is mostly about beer, and it looks like 6 states out of 50 won't let a grocery store sell the good stuff

  • 6 states won't sell beer in grocery stores. Are you referring to beer as the "good stuff"?

  • As a canadian who's frequently in Michigan, its all about who you meet. Canada and the states citizens are very similar in terms of attitude, nature, and even life struggles. HOWEVER I feel like the stronger alcohol tolerences are farther south, and the u.s. is less harsh on drunk drivers.

  • Well drunk driving violations differ depending on the state. I live in NY and you get screwed over hard for DWIs. As for tolerances, I personally prefer dark beers and whiskey so maybe that's why I felt that way in my original response.
