Should abortion be legal?

Personally I honestly don't have a standpoint on abortion so I really can't say. But I do think that aborting a child because it has special needs is wrong
Please don't comment unless you have watched the video
The Catholic Church is against abortion because if they aborted all those babies they would not have any little boys to molest

  • I don't want to argue whether or not it should be legal because I'm not entirely aware of how all that works, but I definitely think it's not moral.

I feel that if someone can acknowledge that what they're doing is killing a living thing for selfish reasons, sure; let them kill a kid who can't even open his/her eyes and take the heat for it. Be sure to inform the "patient" on how the procedure will go down. That's not graphic, it's no different than getting a colonoscopy apparently. If that's true why not tell them what the doctor is going about killing this human? There's always that part about sexual abuse. While I feel horrible for whomever the victim is I still honestly think they should follow through with the pregnancy. Not for religious reasons or scientific ones. I just can't imagine you getting that kid to agree to be put-down like a sick cat when they're old enough to understand what you mean. So why put them on trial like some slave who can't testify for themself? If you aren't ready to raise a child or can't afford it, I'm all for adoption. It's a life spared and this boy/girl will be put in a safe home and grow up to be a freaking genius.

    • I'm very well suited for this argument. Hi. I'm Schruef. My sister is one year younger than me and she has moderate Down's syndrome. She's changed my life in more ways than you know for good and bad but I still love her to death. Would my life be better or worse if she wasn't alive or wasn't disabled? I don't know. Because my life is about 75% her right now. Taking care of her and making sure she doesn't break everything. She ate a pipe cleaner when she was younger. The surgery cost her half of her gut. She can't digest skinned food (corn, beans) so she gets diarrhea when she eats them. The surgery was expensive. She fell out of a two story window and fractured some bones. More surgery... She breaks things, and has to eat 1.6x a much as us because she can't digest as efficiently. We didn't know she was disabled until she was born. If I was my mom would I have aborted if I knew? I do not know. Here's my point, I want to go to bed so I'll keep it generally short; Crunchy, I don't know if you do, you didn't say anything if you do, but 90% of you people don't know what it means to have a family member who is disabled. You don't. They will take your life, smash it to bits and rebuild it again just to smash it. There are lots of types of disabilities. If your child was basically brain dead? I would abort. If they had other severe disabilities? I would also abort. It's not a life worth living, and I'm dreading the day when I have to go to my sisters coffin on her 35th birthday (average lifespan for someone with Down's) because I wouldn't be able to go. I'd break down over how she's changed me for good and bad. Some families can't afford them, and the homes they go to can be abusive. You must live with them your entire life, or send them to a home. If the disability was mild? I would keep the child. I'm for abortion if the circumstances require it for a better future. But please, don't say it's selfish. Because you don't know what selfish is, until you live like me and my sister do together.

        • IT SHOULD ALWAYS STAY LEGAL, PERIOD. /yelling Even if you don't agree with it, it's still one of the safest medical acts ever when done by a trained doctor. However, 47,000 women die each year from abortions conducted unsafely and 5,000,000 are hospitalized. So people will either do it in a certified clinic or they'll do it in an alley, what do you prefer?

Only if post childbirth abortion is also legal. It should be legal until the child is 80

                      • I'm generally against abortion. Unless it's a -blam!- case or the mother is at risk, then I don't think they should be legal. Most abortions are simply the easy way out of people making stupid choices, and the child pays the price for it. If you get knocked up, then you should live with having a child. It's not hard not getting pregnant.

                          • YES, AND HERE'S WHY... In 1973, abortion was outlawed in 30 states. This didn't stop people from getting abortions. Instead, people would get underground illegal abortions, which were dangerous. The death rate among young women went way up. So in short, abortions would happen either way, so we may as well have them funded to be safe instead of a deadly underground abortion process. Whether or not it's moral, that's a debate for another day that I don't want to get into. I'm just saying that it's happened before, and would most likely have the same results if it happened today.
