• Instead of arguing your futile point you instead resort to childish insults? Can I not have a sane discussion with anyone?

  • >implying you can have sane discussion about religion. Your statement is irrelevant because today the majority display buddhism as a religion. According to wikipedia this the critea for religion are a system of social coherence based on a common group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object, person, unseen being, or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, traditions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. Most buddhist acknowledge that buddhism in fact is a religion some of them have stated
Like all major religions, Buddhism contains an explanation of the origin of existence, a morality, and a specific set of rituals and behaviors. ... Buddhism presents a transformational goal, a desire to improve one's situation, and a distinct moral code
You can argue that in the beginning, buddhism was not a religion but has now become one. I've studied buddhism before and much of its teaching share a system of thought that is considered to be the highest truth. It involves moral codes, practices, values, traditions and rituals. There happy now?

  • You haven't. Your statement had no sensible evidence to back up your claim. You just blindley spit out something you clearly lack the ability to prove. I presented my arguments on why buddhism is considered a religion and offered you a chance to challenge my arguments, yet in contrast you declined and called me stubborn? Your ignorance and the lack of knowledge on the matter seemingly wasted peoples time. The best shot I can give is that you think that your statement is entitled to your own opinion. Which is by far idiotic in my eyes. You are only entitled for what you can argue for.

  • Buddhism is not a religion. Buddhists believe in no god/deity and only really believe in a way of life. The definition of a religion is that its a collection of social beliefs and way of lives that pertain to a god/gods/goddess/goddesses.

  • If your standard of what describes a religion is the belief in a supreme being, you obviously did not even read my post. Our discussion is over.

  • A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence. Many religions have narratives, symbols, and sacred histories that aim to explain the meaning of life, the origin of life, or the Universe. Buddhism fits user that.

  • If you search up the definition of religion in the dictionary, it reads: "The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a god." Buddhism is more a set of ideals/principles than anything else. It can't be called a religion.

Religion involves God. Buddhism is a set of ideals/principles that lacks any ties to a god, and thus is not a religion. Whether you believe it is a religion or not is your choice, no use in us arguing.

  • Religion does not inherently involve a god or gods. Often it does, but not always. In every source I listed there is a definition of religion that Buddhism falls under. Buddhism is more than a code of ethical conduct, it's a view on the supernatural structure of the universe.
