To be fair, the Hand Cannon I have equipped on my Warlock (You can see it if you check my profile), the original version of the New Monarchy "Red Hand IX", can kill literally anyone in 3 shots. Only 2 bullets if both are headshots. Its also got 10 rounds, a quick reload and ridiculous stability for pinpoint accuracy, with crazy max effective range to boot. It was seriously the first weapon I used Etheric Light, since you cannot get it anymore as it was only available prior to the Dark Below DLC. My gun is superior to the Thorn, and those using the Thorn against me quickly realize they need to switch weapons cause there is no way that thing is going to win it for them. Just saying. The Thorn is powerful, but not absolute.

  • Thanks for your input but may I ask why most people insist on beating around the bush? I constantly raise the point that Thorn has literally infested all PVP game modes and is most noticeable in ToO yet not one person will admit that nor attempt to engage in a conversation as to why that is the case. That's insane.

  • Oh no, I agree that the Thorn makes an appearance in practically every match in the Crucible. The only time I tend to ever get killed by them is after I've already nailed them to a wall and that silly DoT that it does ends up managing to take me down afterwards. (Which is when I say -blam!- it and toss a Fusion Grenade at my feet and take as much of their team out with me, followed by a Self-Rez and me blitzing the shit out of them with my melee, heh heh heh... Fireborn ftw...) But yeah, its definitely a favorite of people. Which is funny cause I remember when practically NO ONE used the Thorn and all you would ever see was SUROS everywhere. You and Shadow both have good points to make. The Thorn IS used quite often by people, and I make that assumption based purely on encounter rate. 9 times out of 10, there will always be at least one person on either my team or the other team using the Thorn. That has been my personal experience with it. And I believe the reason for it is a couple factors. First, the Thorn gets a LOT of hate from people. You figure, kids see all the attention that the Thorn gets on the forums so they decide to use it as well in hopes that it will give them an edge. So that ends up being the only thing that they use in the Crucible. Obviously, if you use a weapon long enough, you'll eventually get good with it. That is the point Shadow was making. It just so happens that the Thorn is being used the most by these people because they think it has some magic power to make them win. Because we already know that the Thorn isn't unbeatable, and in fact there are many who can and will destroy anyone that claims to be "good" with the Thorn. But that's because those other people spent their time focusing their efforts on mastering other weapons instead. So basically, I agree with both of you. I don't believe in nerfing weapons, never have. Simply because once you start nerfing weapons, it never ends. If the Thorn gets nerfed, kids will just gravitate to the next thing they think is "end all" and then we'll all start seeing demands for that weapon to get nerfed as well. The end result is every weapon getting nerfed in the long run. Besides, nothing beats making a Thorn kid scream and send you hate mail for wrecking his ass repeatedly and then calling you a "hacker" because of it. LOL! XD

  • Thank you. This is the point i have been, albeit less eloquently, trying to make. It is an entirely beatable gun. Nothing is unstoppable. People just cannot be bothered to find a way.

  • Well, like I told him, there's a lot of frustration with it too. Its perfectly normal for anyone get angry at constantly being killed by the same thing, especially if you got trolls doing it. You know, the kids who go out of their way to make you mad. Kill you and then run over and teabag ya like was common in Halo. So I understand both sides here. The key thing though is to keep a level head and try to remain calm. And when you see anyone who is angry about stuff like this, you never want to approach them in a challenging way. Because their emotions are justified. There could be any number of factors involved as well, maybe they are having a bad day. Maybe they're sick of being taunted, since real life itself tends to be harsh and constantly putting us in horrible situations like at work or with family/friends. Hell, for those still in school there is all manner of crap they gotta tend with, ya know?

  • Oh i know. Lots of things in life have been getting under my skin lately, especially with work. I get that people have frustrations on top of frustrations with Bungie and their game right now. Between, Cheaters, TTK, Red Bull, botched Interviews, and everything else, i get it.
