I feel ya man. I have The UNSCDF symbol on my neck, Desgned to look a little faded in a nice red, green and black. I call people whiners sometimes, but only the people that constantly cry out for nerfs. I play CoD, i know how the nerf herders work. It will just roll around until AR's are eventually on top again and then it will begin again. With so many weapon types, and perks a true balance will never be achieved, One or two guns will always run the pack in their respective classes. They really need to reverse a couple of the Nerfs they did to AR's and that will bring some semblence of balance back. Another thing is the same one that every company cannot seem to get right, Balance for PvP does not mean Balanced for PvE, and vice versa. There needs to be a seperation of how weapons work in each section of the game. Then you have our levels, which mean nothing as we get debuffed when we fight level 1's in PvE, no other game does that, if you are a lvl 60 you fight at lvl 60 at all times. I always felt like a legend in every Halo, Whether i was playing Easy, Heroic or Legendary, i felt like a legend. I busted my butt to get specific armors in Halo 3, you know the ones im talking about. But in Destiny, wether im doing a fight against a Level 34 vandal or a level 2, i still have to punch him twice. Its hard to be legend, when you cant even pwn lower level NPC's. This is an issue that needs to be corrected. Otherwise there as well not be any levels in the game, just difficulties. They took all the worst aspects of MMO's and RPG's and added them to a shooter. There is so much potential in this game, and it aggravates me to see it go to waste, and it does in almost every way. Most of the stupid aggravating glitches and bugs i can look past. But the constant disparity and statistics and everything else just does the game no good, not to mention all the behind the scenes stuff, and the sheer lack of transparency. The only reason i know Bungie had a hand in this game is because the enemies always cheer when they kill you, and half the bullets are tracking from the enemy, clearly thats bungie. Everything else, doesnt feel like Bungie at all, not just that it doesnt feel like our Bungie, it doesnt feel like Bungie at all. I loved Halo, its what truly got me into gaming, i loved Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach. All glorious games. Even though it was rereleased by 343, i bought Halo MCC, because i wanted to see my favorites brought into 2015. And they delivered, labeit pretty shaky in the connections, Single player was truly wonderful. I want this game to reach its full potential, but when everyone feels they need to make their own thread on how mad the Thorn makes them or how mad they are about TTK, it not only makes the community look bad, it cuts down on the visiblity of Constructive feedback, and Feedback in general. If you bothered to read all this im done for now, thanks for listening.

  • Fix Thorn, fix your denial about it as well.

  • Why? I stomped on kids that use Thorn with AR's and i do it now with Pulse rifles. Maybe you should fix your attitude instead of getting so bent out of shape over one weapon in a game with hundreds, But hey you are entitled to your opinion, as i am entitled to mine. And im not in Denial of anything about Thorn, its a good gun. Because guess what until the February nerf of AR's, Thorn still wasnt the powerhouse it is now, why? Because AR's kept it in check. Most Pulse rifles can still do the same thing thanks to the Buffs that the Pulse rifles got. But please do not expect me to take you even remotely seriously with a name like that.

  • That's not my gamertag but really, what does a name have to do with anything here? I could be named MyLittlePony and still have more credibility than you. Try not to get butt hurt. Thorn has the ability to 2 shot headshot and has scout rifle range, not to mention crazy DoT. Please argue that and why it's ok, I'm curious to hear the master of all that is Destiny knowledge break it down for me.

  • One i never said it was your gamertag, i clearly stated name. Two, Your name has troll in it, why would i ever take someone like that seriously. Three, the Thorn has been this way since december. But it is humorous that you completely ignored the response to your last comment and instead chose to attempt to change the subject. Also i have never stated that i am the "Master of all Destiny Knowledge" but i can read and comprehend concepts, ideas and information. I process those things and provide my views on them, providing information that i used to come to those conclusions. More often than not when i die from Thorn its because somebody else shot me first. And as for your "credibility" well i havent seen all that much from you that shouts "Credible source" But then again, since i dont have any statistics, or information directly from bungie, other than what is provided in the Weekly updates and Hotfix and Patch notes, my Sources are credible, whereas i am not. And as for being butthurt, your responses and comments would actually have to bother me for that to happen, and sadly you just are not that proficient of a Troll.

  • Did you forget about the Thorn buff that took place? Hmmm

  • You mean the Thorn buff that only affected ... Projectiles now briefly highlight targets on impact Mark of the Devourer DoT (damage-over-time) upgrade increased against PvE enemy targets Reload Speed increased Magazine Size increased Ammo inventory size increased Stability and Weapon Handling increased Straight from the Buff. Also the one that took place a full 2 months BEFORE the second AR nerf. Tell me what in that Buff made it so its unstoppable? Hmmm? Maybe it was that pesky ability to highlight, or that purely evil ammo increase. Could it have been the fact that it is now more stable instead of being able to fire like a pump shotgun because the recoil was so bad. If they rolled back the 1.1.1 AR Nerf you would see a drastic reduction in Thorn issues. Do your homework, then get back to me.

  • I just see it happening way too often in shooters, mostly. I mean, if someone is kicking ass with a weapon, its because they are skilled with it. Period. Its not like they are cheating, they are just a beast with it. And more often than not, they can switch to another weapon and be just as beastly with that too, and then you get people wanting that weapon nerfed as well. Case in point, Project Blackout. (The video above)

  • Instead of coming across like a super try hard douche know it all, why not recognize how much better it is than all other guns? it has excessive range for a handcannon and the fact that every game type (most noticeably ToO) is infested with it) Can you deny that as well????

  • To be fair, the Hand Cannon I have equipped on my Warlock (You can see it if you check my profile), the original version of the New Monarchy "Red Hand IX", can kill literally anyone in 3 shots. Only 2 bullets if both are headshots. Its also got 10 rounds, a quick reload and ridiculous stability for pinpoint accuracy, with crazy max effective range to boot. It was seriously the first weapon I used Etheric Light, since you cannot get it anymore as it was only available prior to the Dark Below DLC. My gun is superior to the Thorn, and those using the Thorn against me quickly realize they need to switch weapons cause there is no way that thing is going to win it for them. Just saying. The Thorn is powerful, but not absolute.

  • Thanks for your input but may I ask why most people insist on beating around the bush? I constantly raise the point that Thorn has literally infested all PVP game modes and is most noticeable in ToO yet not one person will admit that nor attempt to engage in a conversation as to why that is the case. That's insane.

  • Oh no, I agree that the Thorn makes an appearance in practically every match in the Crucible. The only time I tend to ever get killed by them is after I've already nailed them to a wall and that silly DoT that it does ends up managing to take me down afterwards. (Which is when I say -blam!- it and toss a Fusion Grenade at my feet and take as much of their team out with me, followed by a Self-Rez and me blitzing the shit out of them with my melee, heh heh heh... Fireborn ftw...) But yeah, its definitely a favorite of people. Which is funny cause I remember when practically NO ONE used the Thorn and all you would ever see was SUROS everywhere. You and Shadow both have good points to make. The Thorn IS used quite often by people, and I make that assumption based purely on encounter rate. 9 times out of 10, there will always be at least one person on either my team or the other team using the Thorn. That has been my personal experience with it. And I believe the reason for it is a couple factors. First, the Thorn gets a LOT of hate from people. You figure, kids see all the attention that the Thorn gets on the forums so they decide to use it as well in hopes that it will give them an edge. So that ends up being the only thing that they use in the Crucible. Obviously, if you use a weapon long enough, you'll eventually get good with it. That is the point Shadow was making. It just so happens that the Thorn is being used the most by these people because they think it has some magic power to make them win. Because we already know that the Thorn isn't unbeatable, and in fact there are many who can and will destroy anyone that claims to be "good" with the Thorn. But that's because those other people spent their time focusing their efforts on mastering other weapons instead. So basically, I agree with both of you. I don't believe in nerfing weapons, never have. Simply because once you start nerfing weapons, it never ends. If the Thorn gets nerfed, kids will just gravitate to the next thing they think is "end all" and then we'll all start seeing demands for that weapon to get nerfed as well. The end result is every weapon getting nerfed in the long run. Besides, nothing beats making a Thorn kid scream and send you hate mail for wrecking his ass repeatedly and then calling you a "hacker" because of it. LOL! XD

  • Thank you. This is the point i have been, albeit less eloquently, trying to make. It is an entirely beatable gun. Nothing is unstoppable. People just cannot be bothered to find a way.

  • Well, like I told him, there's a lot of frustration with it too. Its perfectly normal for anyone get angry at constantly being killed by the same thing, especially if you got trolls doing it. You know, the kids who go out of their way to make you mad. Kill you and then run over and teabag ya like was common in Halo. So I understand both sides here. The key thing though is to keep a level head and try to remain calm. And when you see anyone who is angry about stuff like this, you never want to approach them in a challenging way. Because their emotions are justified. There could be any number of factors involved as well, maybe they are having a bad day. Maybe they're sick of being taunted, since real life itself tends to be harsh and constantly putting us in horrible situations like at work or with family/friends. Hell, for those still in school there is all manner of crap they gotta tend with, ya know?

  • Oh i know. Lots of things in life have been getting under my skin lately, especially with work. I get that people have frustrations on top of frustrations with Bungie and their game right now. Between, Cheaters, TTK, Red Bull, botched Interviews, and everything else, i get it.

  • I am not really trying. And its pretty easy for me to deny as i rarely see full teams of Thorns, and only occasionally see teams with 1 or more. I see plenty of last words, bad juju's, vex's, and assorted legendary guns, but im not seeing in my own experiences these overwhelming amount of Thorns. Sorry bud, but you are getting bent out of shape for practically nothing. Until Bungie releases another stat sheet that shows how often Thorn is being used, its all just guess work by players, and assumptions. Maybe you should slow your roll, and relax a little bit. You seem alittle high strung.

  • Not at all high strung just annoyed by people that ignore facts. Have you played trials of Osiris? If so, how many all Thorn or majority Thorn teams have you encountered? Be honest, stop playing a role and address that question please, thank you.

  • I have played Trials, not much mind you, its hard to find a team when you are not a highly skilled player, which i am not, which is why i only have a .88 k/d. Not many people want to play with me. And i am not playing a role. I am just honestly telling you my experience hasnt been all that bad against it, and i have not come against it too often. I encountered 5 or 6 Teams that had 1 or 2 people with it, i havent had the luxury of facing an all thorn team. Half the time they were using Shottie or snipers. Im just being honest with you man, i clearly have had better luck than you in finding matches. Frankly i have come up against more teams that were mostly TLW

  • And honestly i was covering my bases, you will note i said
And its pretty easy for me to deny as i rarely see full teams of Thorns, and only occasionally see teams with 1 or more.
My exact words. Not beating around the bush. I have been straightforward with you from the get go, where as you have been fairly hostile towards me. I have been trying to get my point across to you, but all you see is your side and cannot view any other. My experiences have been different than yours. I have not belittled your experiences, yet you insist that i avoid the subject and beat around the bush. whilst you avoid real hard facts. Until i see a Spreadsheet from Bungie stating the percentage of Thorn use, im going to assume its a minority issue, as this Forum is a small portion of the community as whole. Again Not trying to divert, but trying to show you that there are two sides to the coin, my side of the coin is not any less valid than yours.

My K/D is worse than yours. I'm not ashamed to admit that because my life doesn't revolve around having an awesome K/D. If it did I would use the same OP set up on every character every time I play crucible and I would probably quit when a match isn't going my way. That's what most try hards do I bet...

  • Yeah, wouldn't believe all the times I'm in there fighting the enemy team by myself cause the rest of the folks on my side decided to bail cause we were close to losing the match. Friggen cowards the lot of them, I say. I don't even care, shit. Even if its just me on my team, I'll make my opponents pay heavily for every point they score on me.
