I was going to avoid this thread but...... If you have a problem with kids of any age playing video games, then don't let yours play. As a parent, gamer, and game store employee, I have experienced all sides of the argument. It comes down to 2 things. 1. The parent. 2. The kid. As a parent, it is our job to ensure the content of the game is appropriate. I play the game first. If I believe the content is ok for my kids then they can play. I do not rely on esrb ratings simply because their standards may or may not be the same as mine. I played Destiny well before I allowed my son and daughter to. Why? Because I am a good father. Now why do I let them play it? Same reason! It is a reward for good grades, doing chores in a timely manner, etc. How is that teaching them poor values? Before they ever played ANY video game, we sat down and discussed reality vs fantasy. They are 8 and 9 years old and are the best behaved kids I have EVER seen. Both of them have sub-accounts on psn under my name. This allowed me to control everything they do. I explained to them what restrictions were placed on the account, such as no voice, video sharing, purchases, etc, and they understood why.... Take responsibility for raising your own offspring and you won't have to worry. Don't blame an industry for your inability to be a worthwhile parent.

I completely agree. I'm 16 and play destiny, and I can just see that this topic is simply just a joke. Are you actually being serious that a child is going to go round a blow people's heads of because of destiny, or any other game. I completely agree with language, but temper is not going to affect anything, if the child has a bad temper, doesn't mean he is going to kill people. Not all kids are childish, a lot of kids become mature at a younger, they grow up, everyone has too at some point, so why hide it from them? This is dramatically exaggerated. It should be the parents that check whether they believe the game is suitable, they do not need the esrb to decide for them.

  • You don't fit the category I'm OP's post. Difference between you and most parents is you guide after you walked the path to see if it's safe, then during the walk you explain the noises and wildlife. Respect to you.
