Solid Feedback and why there is so much actual negativity for those who don't know

Alright, so in the number of threads I have seen while just killing time or being unable to sleep as per usual, I see various people posting calling the majority of us "whiners" for daring to complain about the game. Not to mention, the now very few, fanboys who praise Destiny like it is the bees knees and greatest game ever. I mean these are the kinds of people you just can't even hold a civilized back and forth with, nothing at all resembling a debate because of how blind they are. So I'm going to explain something as very clear as I possibly can, because I feel the need to do so. First, lets get something straight right out the gate. I'm not a Guardian. I'm a mother-blam!-ing "SPARTAN", understood? I played Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, Halo Wars, Halo: Reach and Halo 4. I've watched and own the Halo Movies and Anime. I've got a "Remember Reach" poster on my wall and a tattoo that reads "John-117" right next to my "N7" (Cause lets face it, Shepard and the Chief would be best friends if they ever got to actually meet). I'm a Spartan, first and foremost. I got Destiny BECAUSE I'm a Spartan. I became a Bungie fan BECAUSE of Halo and I supported their mission to conquer the world because of it. I got choked up when I heard they were no longer going to be working on the series, but when they first announced the development of Destiny? Yeah, no doubt, I was onboard. They had made me a diehard fan, and I was willing to follow them without question. I helped sell their game, I got them pre-orders like nobodies business where I worked, scoring at least 10-20 pre-orders damn near every day, myself included. I played the Beta. I was there for the Midnight Release and I played Destiny non-stop. Now, you might be wondering, if I'm talking so highly of Bungie and their creation, why so much negative feedback? You need to recognize that its not senseless hate. NO ONE who "complains" on this forum actually hates the game. Quite the opposite. I will bet dollars to doughnuts that everyone on here who you would call a "whiner" is a serious hardcore fan. In fact, we're probably way more hardcore and attached to Destiny than those who take offense to us talking badly about it. In truth, the REAL fans here know the Halo series. Look to your left. Now to your right. The Guardians you see around you are actually Spartans who have their armor in a locker at the Tower. You might think I'm kidding, but you would probably be surprised just how many of us there are. We know what Bungie is capable of doing. We have experienced it for ourselves. Would you believe that Halo 3 had a budget of roughly $60 million? That's including their marketing costs. Destiny meanwhile had $500 million. There is no excuse for everything that has happened with this game. We Spartans look at Destiny and see the potential of what once was, and what it could STILL be. We are on here, taking the time out of our days to make these feedback threads/posts in the hopes that maybe something constructive will come out of it. We all know Bungie can create greatness. We've seen it first hand. The fact that they think "Destiny" in its current state is acceptable is just mind blowing for most of us. The Spartans look at the base game and say "where's the meat?" The Spartans look at Dark Below and just shake their heads, wondering why in the hell they had to pay $20 to play content that was originally apart of their $60 purchase when it was clear to everyone how shoddy the vanilla version was. The Spartans look at House of Wolves and flash a smile, but its very short lived because we're still wondering why in the hell we're paying so much god damn money for an obvious incomplete game. The Spartans look at The Taken King and gawk at the ridiculous price of $40 when we've already paid that much for "DLC" which should have been given to all of us for free from the very start, like it is now for "new players" looking to get into the franchise with the release of TTK. New players pay your standard $60 purchase for the game that WE Day 1 Players should have received from the start. The Spartans look at the "Veteran" Shaders, Emblem and Sparrow that we'll get for having spent $140+ and we're just confused to all hell because we're thinking where is value to this? We already paid $40 worth of DLC crap, now they want more? And they give us so little to go along with it? How about some Veteran EXOTICS or LEGENDARY weapons or armor? The Spartans look at the Sparrow and wonder why there is only ONE type of vehicle for players to buy and bring with them. The Spartans look at their defeated enemies as they lay on the ground, dead, and wonder why they can't pick up the alien weapons just laying on the ground. The Spartans look at the Crucible and wonder why its taken them up to TTK to finally put in a Capture the Flag mode. The Spartans look at the 4-5 hours worth of story missions that consist almost entirely of Horde Mode encounters, next to no cinematics, a lack luster story where nothing is ever really explained, enemy drop ships hovering overhead that are impossible to destroy...and question whether or not Bungie actually made this game. The Spartans look at all the Sony Exclusives and question if Bungie no longer cares about them, and yet they continue to try and support a company which doesn't try to go out of its way in the least to do anything for them that is special in the least. The Spartans look at Destiny...and mourn the loss of the Bungie we thought we knew. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRjzlWmjYxM I welcome all Spartans who are willing that see this post to comment below. Edit: Another thread of mine in which I get very critical and detailed about Destiny and all of its flaws: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/136913407/0/0

  • For those who keep thinking Destiny is better than Halo. This is the Halo 5 E3 Demo. THIS is how you play a narrative. THIS is how you do a story. THIS is how you do mission design. Now picture Destiny being like THIS, with THIS kind of gameplay in the Destiny universe with Guardians, and then you'll have yourself the makings of greatness.

  • One word. Activision. They're behind all of this I swear it. Bungie has hardly any free will, all they can do is make Activision money. I'm sure most of us know that Destiny was massive. Then Activision butchered it. Now for all we know it's either locked behind DLC, or its scrapped. It's horrible that Bungie has become, essentially slaves to Activision. Know by no means is Bungie out of trouble. I'm still angry at them, for their unbalanced PVP mostly. But this seemingly oblivious attitude. They probably ignore all of this, and then they go off and 'fix' something completely unrelated and something that doesn't need fixing. Instead of actually talking to us about what we want about TTK, they are concerned with things that have been unveiled in TTK. They bribe us with a 20$ price reduction for things we should already be getting. They continue to give us overpriced and under delivered expansions. Yet I, and most of us here still continue to support them. Why? Because we believe. We believe that the next expansion it will be better. We believe that the next update it will fix Thorn or that Atheon glitch. We have blindly followed Bungie into this money suckling game because they are what they are. We give them this patience and forgiveness because they are the ones who gave us Halo. We show them this prosperity and feedback, in hopes it will not fall on blind eyes and deaf ears. And here we are, gathered around, enraged and disgusted by those we trusted most. Most of out feed back has fallen on blind eyes and deaf ears. Most of our requests and complaints have been sidetracked so that they may reap the rewards for delivering us something they know is sub par. No more.

    • Halo 5 comes out in winter 2015...... You can get back to the series pretty soon. Although halo is better In ways. It's also worse - the raids and co op stuff for destiny is what saves it.

Picture perfect post for my reactions to all the DLC shenanigans. For me I was more of a JRPG/RPG gamer, with the exception of Super Smash Bros. on the N64. Never really played FPSs' till I went to my friends house and he had Halo CE on the original Xbox. It intrigued me but did not hook me in. Later down the road Halo 2 came out, that was an awesome game to play at parties with friends. It hooked me even further, but keep in mind I was still a fanboy of Nintendo at the time. As I got older i grew tired of Nintendo BS and switched to Xbox. I bought with my hard earned money an Xbox 360 and the first damn game I bought was Halo 3. I loved that game to death. Not only did the game intrigue be into reading into the lore of the Halo universe, novels I mean, but it also introduced me to great group of friends that I played with to this day both in real life and online; great friends named Wookie even with his health and family problems still play games with. Now fast forward to Halo 4 kind of skeptical with 343 at the helm, but still went and bought the game. There were some major improvements, but also some major flaws; story in-game was a hundred times better, MP on the other hand was very CODy and that is a big nono in my book. But 343 has the capacity to admit their wrongs and make their rights with the incoming Halo 5; the MCC I feel was more of a corporate holiday forced rush release, but I am not sure of it. Now look at Bungie with Destiny, new IP for them. The promise and hype of the game was riding on the legacy of their Halo franchise. With the release of the game and DLC season pass was a major disappointment followed by sorrow and the betrayal. Following the recent events has lead to rage and uproar. What I am trying to get at with that long winded text is that Halo/Bungie introduced me and many others to an genre of gaming that we might have never played or had a thought of playing. The Bungivision that brought this shatter of a game has not only slapped but spat in the face on all the long time fans of Bungie. I may not be a hardcore Spartan, but I salute to those who are and hope you continue the good fight.

                • Some truth here. I dropped Xbox after 10 years, played all Halo games. Moving to PS4, I was stoked about having a Bungie game on PS4 , hoping it would replace my love of halo, and it still could but it keeps tripping over some nonsense. I shouldn't feel like all I am to you is a strange coin your looking to collect. Not asking you to work or develop for free but a little give and take goes a long way.

So the people who insult Bungie, call them incompetent, money whores, sellouts, more commonly known as Bungievision, who can't make a good game with a $500 million budget, which Bungie says is untrue, by the way. The franchise budget is probably $500 million. The first game is nowhere close to that. The ones that say that they're done with Destiny, that no one's going to play it when Fallout 4 comes out, that Destiny is dying, that the DLCs are overpriced, that it was a failure, say that because they're a fan? ...That's not a very successful way of showing it. Firstly, Bungie doesn't control everything. Halo was an Xbox exclusive franchise because Microsoft took a bet that Halo CE would get the Xbox platform off the ground. That's business. Bungie needed money, Microsoft supplied it for exclusivity. Same thing happened here. Why you feel betrayed by this is irrelevant. Exclusivity exists. Either say that there should be no exclusivity AT ALL, or deal with it. It wasn't not Bungie's decision to go "against" their beloved Xbox crowd. It wasn't Bungie's decision to cut the game in half and sell the rest in chunks.

                            • When bungie made halo, A: they had their story guy. They had a budget, people dont realize they left all their money at microsoft, and couldnt afford it. Budget yeah, money? Went to sony and activision. Those "dlc already on the disc?" No, it wasnt, every tuesday they put out small patches to Prep, and as things were added, people data mined and found the areas, then moaned about it. HALO? Completely different styled game then what destiny is, and will be. Dumb to compare the two directions. Obviously A LOT has changed. 40 dollars for A true expansion? That is more then the first two both had? And i pay 5$ more? -blam!- yeah. Its a good deal, your getting practically another game. Just sit in, relax, games such as these evolve. If you are a true "spartan" you would remember halo lacked story when it first dropped, gameplay, then the community got behind it THEN it blew up

                              • Also to further one of the points I addressed in my first post, on the subject of story... The video above does a pretty good job of making the point for me. I mean, Guardians are really vague. You were dead, no idea for how long, and you're magically brought back to life to fight against the Darkness. You are given NO OTHER INFORMATION regarding ANYTHING. At all. You are just expected to go around and kill shit. That's all. Meanwhile, the Spartans are genetically enhanced. There is real fact and weight behind what makes a "Spartan" special and different from all the rest. Even without their armor, they are not to be trifled with. And not everyone can become a Spartan, either. Many potential candidates did not survive the procedures. If you compare the character you play in both games? "Spartan"- Special Operations, Super Soldier trained to survive harsh situations and environments. They are skilled in the use of all weapons, vehicles and aircraft and can even discern how to work alien technologies. A single Spartan is a one man army, the pride of the UNSC and respected by all those in the military. They stand as a beacon of hope for humanity and are praised by the people. Spartans Never Die... "Guardian"- Someone who died in the past and was resurrected somehow by the power of the Traveler, a mysterious being who has fallen silent. They fight the alien invaders who serve the Darkness trying to wipe out humanity...for some unknown reason... (Cause the Speaker COULD tell us but simply won't...) I don't know, I mean the concept of Guardians just seems like there was SOMETHING there at one point, but then that was quickly tossed out the window in favor of a new story. We have no idea just how much of Joseph Staten's work was butchered and tossed by Activision.
