If humanity actually believed in the afterlife...

...then wouldn't we celebrate murderers for sending us there faster? Think about it, most religions consider murder a sin, and most secular institutions consider it a crime (unless it's done in their name...). Therefore, a murderer is someone who gives up their place in society or heaven so that you can go there faster. Shouldn't we be thanking them? #whatifthephones[i]rang[/i]

  • I actually had a run-in with a kid at school who thought like this. At my school, there's a plaque on the wall for a memorial foundation of a student who was killed. He loved music, so his parents donated a bunch of money to our department. One day, a student asked me about the plaque, and I told him the story. He said "oh, that's good". Thinking he was talking about the money his family donated, I said "yeah, it's nice that they're trying to give back." "No," the student said, "that he died." Shocked, I asked why. "So he got to heaven faster." People really believe this stuff.
