Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

No guys he's right. Destiny has made me a mass murderer. ;)

Petition to ban op for being a dumbass fgt?

Video games don't cause violence. Violence is only enhanced by video games if the individual is already violent.
-
Played halo at age 4 15 now and im perfectly fine
-
You are a master baiter

While I respect the idea, the rating for destiny wasn't made for age in mind, it was most likely made for sales in mind. Many people see the t rating and think oh perfect for everyone! While the m scares some parental consumers away. The game is really only different from call of duty (using as a refference from the multiplayer gameplay) in the choice of language, and blood. I'm not taking a side mind you. However I highly doubt the content rating will change any time soon due to this reason, although I have seen ratings change beforehand so it's not entirely discredited to say that.

Horrible troll bait. Tldr
-
Lol i did every single destructive on that list but laser tag. lmao laser tag is destructive? Your kids are gonna be miserable. BTW I'm 22 so I did all that before destiny soooo...
-
I sort of agree But who the fûck carries around a sword in this day and age
-
Laser tag? Them dang nab taggers!
-
This is the gayest thing I've read all day.
-
I noticed you continually brought up ages 10 and under, while you stated that the issue was people 17 and younger therefore the post is flawed
-
Its only M rated. Meaning 13+ (teenage)
im 15
-
I'm really hoping this is satire or you're a troll. Otherwise that's quite depressing
-
3) is so wrong. You would be surprised to enter a school and see how many kids swear these days. It's not just destiny, but it's the Internet. Vines, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube especially that causes it.
-
Well you have a great OPINION sir. I mean it's only natural that you're qualified to to make this change. It's not like it's people's jobs to rate video games and they think it's totally fine that kids at age thirteen are qualified to play the game. Whatever.
-
Parents should be made more aware of the ratings a game receives, and even then the rating system should be revised, at least the ESRB system, to reflect the ratings severity and why. I may be a teenager, but I feel that not everyone is the same, and therefore just because certain adolescents can't handle certain things, not everyone should be punished because of it.
-
I think you forgot your satire tag
-
Destiny has a T rating for teen for a reason so get over it as annoying as they are they have every right to play the game as much as you do
-
This is honestly the dumbest thing I have ever heard your pretty stupid if you are serious about this
-
I do not believe that playing video games causes violence in children. I think as long as the child is educated in the basic fact that things like movies and games are fantasy then its ok for them to play provided they have that understanding. Ive been playing viloent games and watching violent moveis since i was very young because i had that understanding im now 26 and i am not a violent person at all.

The bait is REAL, man!!!
-
Hey buddy, you just blow in from stupid town? Welcome to the internet.

I disagree completely. I have a 6 year old who plays destiny. He's been playing fps's since he was 2. He is completely well adjusted has no antisocial behavior, is not violent, plays sports and has many friends and does not flinch at all at the sight of a sword (he has several and I've attacked him with them, he just fights back). As long as you talk to your kids, explain it's a game, tell him you shoot the "bad guys", tell him it's not real life and in the real world you can't do what you do in the game there is no problem. Also talking about being a sore loser and stuff like that helps. It's when parents park their kid's in front of the game and go away where you can run into problems but the same can be said for TV or life really. Kids are going to see and hear all kinds of stuff that you would rather they didn't. As long as you talk to them and explain right and wrong they will be able to handle these situations without negative impact.

Edited by GOLDSTAR45: 6/26/2015 11:57:06 PMI'm playing this game at 12 and i have already been playing shooters for a year not violent compared to what we see on the news. and i don't get angry the real anger you see are people teasing others for liking something they don't like. Really arrested this game is the most minor violence game there is. I've played Skyrim and Eso so this no violence compared to that. and i have practically stopped playing this game to play Elder Scrolls Online. much better than destiny. Games also help hand eye coordination. Also why can't you spell?
