Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

Troll bad troll It's not like they playing GTA you know -blam!-ing whores, jumping out car n killing them to get the money back (you know you all did this) and it's not like they playing manhunt you know that game you'd stalk people n bash their head in with a hammer or put a bag over their head. On the upside if your kids inside playing a few mildly violent games they ain't outside throwing rocks at busses or playing knock n dash on your elderly neighbours door or having older kids getting them into smoking or drinking or at worst joining a street gang n involved in knife crime and many many other things that are much worse than playing a game online.

Is the age that is put on games and films the recommended age or is it by law that people under the age cannot view/play it?
-
No way dude. I'm 17, but I know people 15 and under who have played this. It's not even that bad. Even the superhero movies today are usually around PG-13 and can have worse stuff than in this game. Look at Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Real life guns a blazing, with little to no blood. A lot like Destiny. Also, half the guns in this game aren't even realistic, especially the exotics. I could see with CoD where its very similar to real life military but this is more like Star Wars.

You know a parent can turn of all chat in settings
-
It's rated T for teen. And most parents don't care if it's T. If its M then most parents care
-
It's the parents choice
-
-
Im 13 and I think that its your right to play Destiny if you want. Some games like rated M games you have to be 17+ or have a adults permission. So the parents are giving the permission for their kids to play.So you have no right to tell them how to raise their kids
-
Jesus christ. I bet the hours fly by in your house.
-
People like you are why trix cereal is getting rid of their colors.
-
Thanks, mom. BTW, kids were busting mailboxes with baseball bats before video games.
-
Oh, also 2 yr sentence? I'll let you pay for those prisons. You make it sound like all those pranks never happened before video games. Newsflash: Every single generation thinks the next is so misguided that they will bring the end to humanity. It's always been this way. Get used to it.
-
Destiny is a lot nicer than GTA. At least they're playing this game.

Edited by MortiefiedBear: 7/2/2015 1:48:34 PMWOW! Jail time?! What -blam-ing rock do you live under? If their parents buy them the game, there is no way for them to get arrested! This is assuming the game was rated M. Secondly, you have no right to act all high and mighty! You are less mature just for posting this! And lastly, I'm "underage."
-
I agree, but I think at least 14+ year olds can handle it. It's rated t.

there is a profound lack of the word satire or any of its synonyms in this post.

Just a thought but all those mid deeds were around long before video games. I am pretty sure no one is TPing or egging anything because of destiny or any other video game. And mailbox baseball has been a thing since before there was a computer in every house. Maybe parents just need to teach there kids the difference between fantasy and reality. I have kids in college and I play with a couple of 15 year olds that are more mature than some of the adults. I do think some of the kids I have run across are too young, but my son plays call of duty and has for several years and is a 14 year old honor student who plays in the school band. Video games are not what makes our society broken, lack of parenting is, so it really isn't a destiny problem.

I'm Tyrone and fück yo kids, I'm to fück somebodies wife. Long dick style.

Got a kick out of this, good post op

Where is this evidence that video games causes violence, anti-social behavior, and that changing it would make us "smarter"? I am 14, I play Destiny regularly, I still have a social life. I'm also in gifted and talented and finish with A's and B's. I'm very sorry if this comes off as disrespectful, as it isn't my intentions, but there are kids I know that don't play games who are as thicker than a brick, AND who are more violent than a lot of my friends who play games.
-
You've got to be kidding me..... video games is the only thing that kept me from getting In trouble when I was younger! Abunch of wimps this generation is.
-
Uhm this isn't borderlands.....
-
While I definitely think that video games should never be used as a babysitter or parental substitute, I don't think that shooters are terrible influences for children given that the correct parental controls are put in place and the child in question is mature enough. I've been playing Halo since I was 10 and I've never displayed the aggressive or antisocial behaviors you listed; same for my friend who has been playing since he was 8 (he even became an Eagle Scout, a considerable honor).
-
We've got ESRB, they determined the game is rated T. I don't have problems with this, game is using pew pew guns to shoot aliens, I don't have problem with kids playing any kind of fantasy violence, hell I played resident evil when I was 11, The only thing I do oppose is super young kids playing hyper realistic shooters, like people letting their ten year olds play call of duty. But any game that detaches from reality, don't really care, like you're an undead space wizzard using a laser gun to shoot space zombies on the moon ffs.
-
Plus. 2 year sentence for playing a T game? Stupidest thing I've ever read or heard. Not kidding. That is seriously the stupidest thing...
