Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

You take this wayyyyy too seriously. Everyone is different. So not all kids will be manipulated that easily. In fact, I din't think there should be experts on child behavior. The personalities of children are so different and so many children are in the world. The experts seem like they forget that children have a brain and feelings and thoughts just like them selves. A lot of it depends on the wealth of their family. If they're poor and their parents don't have much to offer at all besides food, water, and shelter then they could grow up to start playing games like CoD, Battlefield, etc if they would be able to afford it. And their parents didn't really teach them much about right from wrong. The children that have a nice life in the suburbs or on a farm or in an apartment might start getting these games from ages 6-13, but they're parents teach them to read the bible and teach them right from wrong. The rich families could have a 5 year old wanting CoD and their parents really din't care what they do and buy all the CoD games for them and the kids grow up and not know much about right from wrong. Not really every living condition for children. There's many more. The biggest thing though is the child's mind.

Edited by WhoAteMyFunDip: 7/2/2015 3:47:08 PMThe Wussification of America is real, ladies & gentlemen. And we wonder why kids today are overreacting, oversensitive pussies with little-to-no social skills. EDIT: TP'ing houses, mailbox baseball & egging were all prevalent teenage activities in the 1950s. What wasn't, however, was video games...

So what your saying is that playing a fictional T rated videogame for a few hours is worse for a kid than 2 years in prison...
Seems legit
-
Shut up please. If u want to bitch about a game bitch about cod
-
Idk i played T games when i was 4 years old and ive been stopped on the street by people who were amazed by my well behavior. A dude even gave me $20 when he saw how well behaved i was on a date.

Obvious troll is obvious. I'm disgusted because by replying I've made this stupid thread more popular.

Wtf is wrong with laser tag?! Laser tag is a harmless activity that isn't violent in any way.

Edited by Kilerdrake: 7/3/2015 7:19:19 PMI'm 15 I found this offensive, do adults always think children are influenced by this? They learn bad words from adults not from the internet, I learnt all my curse words from movies, so where did video games pop up? Nowhere I see kids raging so what? Why you have to be mad? It's only a game lol. P.s movies teach kids behavior worse than video games. About the anti social behavior, well real life is way worse than a gaming community where help is always there, and people don't constantly present hypocritical behavior. Adults must think children under 18 have half a brain lol

Gane is rated T for Teen meaning you have to be at least 13 years old to play unless given permission from parent or legal guardian

I was going to avoid this thread but...... If you have a problem with kids of any age playing video games, then don't let yours play. As a parent, gamer, and game store employee, I have experienced all sides of the argument. It comes down to 2 things. 1. The parent. 2. The kid. As a parent, it is our job to ensure the content of the game is appropriate. I play the game first. If I believe the content is ok for my kids then they can play. I do not rely on esrb ratings simply because their standards may or may not be the same as mine. I played Destiny well before I allowed my son and daughter to. Why? Because I am a good father. Now why do I let them play it? Same reason! It is a reward for good grades, doing chores in a timely manner, etc. How is that teaching them poor values? Before they ever played ANY video game, we sat down and discussed reality vs fantasy. They are 8 and 9 years old and are the best behaved kids I have EVER seen. Both of them have sub-accounts on psn under my name. This allowed me to control everything they do. I explained to them what restrictions were placed on the account, such as no voice, video sharing, purchases, etc, and they understood why.... Take responsibility for raising your own offspring and you won't have to worry. Don't blame an industry for your inability to be a worthwhile parent.

I almost believed you man you got me good. Nice job.
-
I totally fell for that in the beginning..nicely done
-
Kids in this day and age are different from kids before I think that with things like social media they have already expressed these things so I think that anyone should be able to play and video game with few exceptions such as grand theft auto and god of war but then again videogames arnt made for adults they are made for kids
-
It must be hard being that -blam!-ing stupid
-
Troll bad troll It's not like they playing GTA you know -blam!-ing whores, jumping out car n killing them to get the money back (you know you all did this) and it's not like they playing manhunt you know that game you'd stalk people n bash their head in with a hammer or put a bag over their head. On the upside if your kids inside playing a few mildly violent games they ain't outside throwing rocks at busses or playing knock n dash on your elderly neighbours door or having older kids getting them into smoking or drinking or at worst joining a street gang n involved in knife crime and many many other things that are much worse than playing a game online.
