As a parent I can tell you that you couldn't be more wrong and misguided. Knowing what my kids are doing, approving things and having an opportunity to discuss them is parenting. Banning things and having it done behind my back is not parenting.
It's like drinking. I'd rather know my kids tried a beer so I can explain and demonstrate what responsible drinking is, than have them "go over to a friends house" and getting slammed and doing something stupid.
Your role as a moderator enables you immediately ban this user from messaging (bypassing the report queue) if you select a punishment.
