I was going to order the $40 version. Given that this is apparently Bungie's attitude toward its players, I think I'll pass.

I'm on the fence now. I was willing to buy the expansion after hearing about the VIP rewards. I am really unsure this series will get better if that is the attitude at Bungie. I hear ya!
