So, for $59.95 I get...

Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or: Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order' -------------------wait for it------------------ That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60. Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that. And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way? Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today. How the hell does this make sense? You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards). "Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift, Your own Edition of The Taken King. I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites. BUMP if you agree with even one part of this. --- out --- EDIT: Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example: You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one. Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!! Does that help even one of you naysayers get it? Edit 2: For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid): Did slavery come to an end? Did the holocaust come to an end? Did the USSR come to and end? Did the wall in Germany get torn down? Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own. Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right! Edit 3: Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else: http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it. There will always be change. Who will do it first? Edit 4: You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument: Bungie can rename the DLC to be $39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions. We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders. * There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered. Edit 5: Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!! Edit 6: There were Alpha players There were Beta players Then came Day-1-ers We can call the next gen the 'Vets' Along comes Xmas Noobs Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians But this latest generation will forever be known as: THE BUNDLE- BABIES I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise. If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!! Edit 7: Strictly for your entertainment only: https://youtu.be/eOlIZhs0JEg https://youtu.be/1o0Vv8lr41w EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own. Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities. We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

  • Dude. They want more people to play the game and with time comes money saving. The people that buy first and enjoy the experience for a year while the people that are buying it just now will be saving money as a result of lost time and efforts to get newbies to play the game.

Currently used copy 39.99 you paid 60.00 (before taxes) then paid 34.99 for season pass.. That's already 20.00 cheaper than what you paid... Nobody complains about that...now I don't disagree about what comes out for vets but then again even though it's not listed it does state "more at launch" P.s. I didn't even bother to read that mambo jumbo crap post...

  • Everyone who posts this fails to realize we payed to play the game for a year! For your cell phone point you payed to use that phone while your friend did not have it. What's the alternative charge $140 for a new game. With this -blam!-ing community crying about quitting daily they have to market to new players.

  • I will pay 40 for taken king but not without all the collectors stuff. I want all the shaders, emotes, Caydes Cache all of it. I will have spent 140 by this point and I feel like that should be included.

    • The phone example is stupid..when my current phone came out it was $600..unless you roped into a new contract that was $40 more per month than you could get anywhere else. I waited 6 months and got it for $0.99 no added monthly..just the regular 2 year contract I was already paying more for. It enticed me to move to a new provider..exactly what it was designed to do. My ckmpany ALWAYS offers better deals to new customers..it works. Once theyve tried the service its hard for them to go back to another one so they willingly pay more. If you want it buy it...of not don't...get a job or something it's really not a lot of money unless you are a poor fool..in which case I suggest doing something other than playing and complaining about the cost of video games..maybe work on thag resume instead.

    • But that's the point. You're getting brand new content as it comes out. These newbies didn't care about the game, and certainly won't buy it if it's $140. So making it $60 as most games are makes sense. Why would bungie spend money and lose it if they give away the content?

    • all I know is if ghorn isn't in my loot table which all evidence points to they are losing me as a customer for another Dlc to their game that is still clearly a beta.

    • You can't expect a new player to fork out $140 for the game it won't happen. I think $60 is to introduce new blood into the game. But the e expansion should be $20

      • I understand. I really think this content should be no higher than $15 to $19.99.

      • I'm confused. Did Bungie take something away from you? You were happy to buy the game at the beginning, and now when someone ELSE gets it at a different price a year later you're upset? Grow up.

      • So what if they decide down the road to go with a marketing model that allows the base game to be free to play up to a certain level cap (say lvl 20 just because) and charge for downloading dlc only. It is a very viable business model and one that others have done and done well with. Would you then bitch about having paid $100 for the original collectors edition that gave you exclusive sparrows, armor, weapons, ghost shell, etc? The phone comparison is irrelevant. I bought an iPhone 4 when it was new for full price (not even the $200 promo price because I wasn't eligible for the upgrade at the time). A year or two later, that phone was available for $100 as a promo deal, and is now (or at least was) the "free" promo phone. Am I upset? Not at all. It is an old phone. Same goes for the game. Vanilla destiny is old and outdated. The ways of leveling your vanilla weapons and characters is long gone. Shards and energies are pretty much useless. Even the way we had to level things in TDB have gone by the wayside and is outdated. Can you still play the old missions and strikes? Yes. Can you still use an original iPhone? Yep. So basically... Boohoo.

      • Okay so you buy a car it's costs around $50,000 you're happy, you like it, it's awesome blah blah blah. Now a year later they're selling the same car for $30,000. Are you gunna get mad because you didn't wait a year ? Are you gunna feel cheated because you didn't wait a year ? No. you're most likely going to just shrug because at the time that's what you wanted and were willing to pay the price. No one said you had to, but because you wanted it right then and there you are going to "Pay the Price" (double entendre). Don't get so mad our benefit as Day 1 people is that they don't get access to that content until they decide to buy it. Their benefit would be the cheaper price. This is the price we play of wanting a great MMORPG, just look at any other MMORPG they're littered with expansions too. Depreciation is stupid af for a video game, but I guess it's the price we pay as gamers.

          • The Xbox now costs $350, and you can get it with a few basically free games on the side. When I bought both of mine, they were 500 each, and every bundle was 560. Yes, it would make sense for bungie to offer a discount to 2014 players, but it's probably not going to happen. If anything, we should be happy because those kinderguardians that join us will be on our level in no time, and Trials will be easy as -blam!-kkkk.
