Was it ever revealed why the UNSC fought the Covenant in Halo 4? I thought there was a truce?

  • When any great empire falls, it is never outright destroyed. Instead, it fragments and shatters. That's what happened with the Covenant. In the end, what we call, "Covenant", is dozens of factions lead by warlords. The most powerful of which, is in Halo 4 and lead by Jul 'Mdama. But by the time Halo 5 rolls around, he has lost his power.

  • They are a rouge group of the Covenant. That is Jul Mandama who still believes in the great journey. So the elites still have a truce but the Storm Faction (Halo 4 elites) are different and go against the treaty
