Defense of the Ancients is the best MOBA, much harder, in-depth, better art-style, and hero variation. It's also the first MOBA, and thus starting the MOBA craze.

Heroes of the Storm is more laid back and easier to get into than other MOBAs. Everything in the game is pretty straight forward. League is more competitive, more intense, and more of a MOBA than Heroes. I enjoy both but its up to you really. I don't know which one I would recommend to people so I play both.
