How many times were they broken, not sure about the teeth but they are links of a chain holding phogoth down to stop his destruction during hit ritual. When you confront them, they break. They do not hurt you but when they break, it provokes phogoth to hurt you. You seal yourself in his chamber to kill him. And when he roars after breaking free, he is doomed to guardians killing him.
