I spend most of my time on destiny during the weekends helping people get to the lighthouse. There isn't any way of being sure that losing on purpose will help an average player through. They can just as easily run into another try hard/exploiting group the next game. And you may have helped a try-hard/exploiting team through.
And frankly, losing on purpose is boring, and doesn't actually help a lesser player progress skill-wise. Again, they can just run into a try-hard team the next game and get stomped. I'd rather challenge myself in helping people achieve the flawless scorecard by actively participating in their fire-team, and then be sure that one or two people then succeeded.
