I run somebody brand new through VoG almost every single week. If you're on Xbox 1 hit me up I still have one more run to do this week. On Tuesday had 1 that had never done any raid before and 2 that had never done VoG. Another one wasn't very experienced but not bad. We finished it up in about 1.5 hours. Wasn't bad at all.

Don't worry about it, just explain off the start, that your new to the raid, and unsure about the mechanics. A good leader will pair you with the strongest player. Your going to die don't feel bad about it sh!t happens all the time
