Today in history, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy. May we remember those who sacrificed their lives.
(My great Grandfather was a paratrooper that day. Hill 30. 82nd Airborne division. He was shot multiple times and received the Purple Heart and good conduct medal)

My grandfather was part of the Normandy invasion as well. He died well, well before I was born so I don't all of the details, but he was part of (I think) 9424th artillery, battery B. He also was 'Jury rigger' fixing anything broken with anything he could salvage. I now possess some of his moments from the war though, including a fold-up spade, bayonet, and German Saber. From my research the saber would've had to have belonged to someone of captain or higher in the German Navy. It's engraved with the obsessive detail the Germans were known for.
