You ppl ever help your own? You know homeless vets, starving kids in america? When was the first or last time you heard of any other country helping america? No I didn't help nepal, no I wont. My priorities lay with america, I will help my country first before another. Don't get me wrong what happened in Nepal is a tragedy, I agree, but not my concern.

How? I'm more concerned for people in my own country than in another. Tha make me wrong? Lol, your too funny. Over patriotic? No, not really. Just want to take care of my own first. Then when we get our shit right we can play world police/hospital.

  • After the United States' involvement in World War Two it went from being the world's seventeen largest military to the first, its GDP doubled and it became the world's largest creditor. Additionally, it initiated the atomic age and formed the United Nations. After World War Two the US was so involved in the world's affairs and on the road to globalization that there really was no turning back. FWIW, I bought a shirt, I also donated $5k to the United Way last year. Charity may start at home, but that certainly doesn't mean it has to end there.

  • You really donated $5k to the UW? *fist bump* Puts me to absolute shame.

My wife's employer has an employee match for the first $2K so we do it through them. Once it's pulled out over the course of year it's still a significant amount but not a huge one time account drainer. I think of it as sort of like a reverse 401k match! 😄 EDIT: They have a huge drive every year for employee donations, both time and money. It's one thing for some fat wallet exec to wrote a cheque, it's a completely different thing to donate your time.

  • I work for a university, so unfortunately, they don't match donations. I think that A.) they don't have the money for that, specifically, and B.) they don't want to match a donation to an organization that might have beliefs not in line with theirs, and therefore compromise their "neutral" stance, and give the wrong impression.

  • I agree with you about charity starting at home and not having to stop their. Sad thing though, is it does. And not in the way you think. When was the last time you seen a sponsor commercial for starving kids in america? What about families that legitimately need help financialy, but they are just above an outdated poverty level. I.e food stamp poverty lvl, is still set from the late 80's.

I'm glad everyone doesn't think like you do, this world would be a disaster if they did
what if America was ravished by an unfortunate natural disaster and we lost all of our infrastructure? What if when that happened our allies/other counties were just like "eh, we have better things to do, they'll fix themselves"? That's not how it works. Countries don't just "sort themselves out" after a natural disaster without any aid
• You know what is really funny? I did 3 tours, 2 in Afghanistan, and 1 in Iraq. I fought for all of America's freedoms, including freedom of speech. Not once did I bash anyone's opinion about nepal (even stated that yes it is a tragedy what happened) but here I am being called everything under the sun by a liberalist jack like yourself. Don't like my opinion/thought on the subject move the fuk on then.

  • It's weird that someone who has taken the tours in Afghanistan can't see the horrors of this world and not realize that people in Nepal need help America's fine

  • I nvr said they didn't need help. How is America fine? There are starving children in america, families that can't get food stamps because they make too much money, but day in day out have to decide if this bill gets paid, or that bill. Or how can I pay these bills and still afford food for my child(ren)? Not the slackers suckling the government tit, but working ppl tht need the help. What about the elderly that are being forced to decide between bils, g ood, and medicine? What about my fellow brothers in arms who are left homeless? This country is far from what it could/should be. All I stated was I was more concerned with my country than with nepal.

  • Lol, have you tried getting on it? Easier said than done, and SS benefits, they are a joke now to. But I guess you don't care, so long as nepal is taken care of.
