Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible
Edit: please try be constructive. I want this to be a discussion not people crying and moaning everywhere

This is the forums. There are no discussions. Just 40 year old pedophiles jacking off in their basements saying stupid shit like "git Gud scrub" "I'm ready to collect your tears" "illuminati confirmed" Ugh I could go on for hours

While I do think thorn needs to be changed, it does not need the damage reduction most seem to want. The only real change it needs is a big decrease in aim assist. The problem with thorn is that it is too easy to hit enemies with. This is the same problem with most handcannons, they have too much aim assist. Handcannons should be high damage, high skill weapons. Thorn needs a decent DoT. That's what makes the gun good, without it the gun is useless. I would hate for them to change the damage on the gun in any way, in gear of them making it useless.
-
Hand cannons in general need a range nerf. Everything else is fine. I should not be able to two shot across the whole map like it can
-
I'd appreciate if the effective range was suitable for a pistol. It's bogus getting outgunned at 50 yds when I'm using a scout rifle, let alone an exotic like Mida.
-
OMG IDGAF WHAT THEY DO TO THORN JUST BUFF AUTO RIFLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!1!!!!!!1!!!!!
-
It doesnt need a nerf, and yes i use it and yes i get killed by it often. There are 3 main guns in PvP Thorn, red death and TLW and they all have their strengths and weaknesses and their own play styles to go with it. With the thorn it comes down to my play style i think its a better weapon at mid range then TLW but close range ill be out gunned majority of the time, becasue of this you wont find me putting myself in a close range combat situation. Long range the thorn is not as strong as Red death you need to shoot very slow you cant just spam like you would at mid range because your shots wont be accurate. Once again, i use thorn but i also get killed by it but im not finding i get killed more often by thorn then any other weapon but i started to use thorn because i found it annoying to die from mainly because of the poison and maybe this is why people dont like it because they dont use it. Its a great gun and lets be honest you cant please everyone so lets say we nerf thorn then the 2 OP weapons will be red death and last word.. then what.. people cry about those 2 and they nerf TLW then everyone is left using the Red death? They just need to buff auto rifles again to make them more useful.. no more nerfing shit.
Say no to NERFS !!
-
If thorn gets nerfed then crucible will only be comprised of red death
-
Sorry if this offends thorners but It's a cheap gun It's catered to players who can't get kills It fires just a bit slower than the last word has pretty much stats Competes with scout rifles in range, 1 head shot deals 121 damage with the burn. That's over powered lol Usually the only kills they get are when the other player out guns them and they die because of the burn Here's the best solution Thorns Damage dies with the user. That's it you guys still get the burn and it can still get kills but if you die you no longer get kills you don't deserve.

Adds a challenge

It's balanced bc literally everyone uses it

Edited by BasilGoldsack NZ: 6/4/2015 2:40:23 AMBecause it's fine the way it is. Red Death is a hard counter to it. Both are 2-shot kills, but the Red Death heal cancels out the Thorn poison, so the Red Death user comes out on top. Hawkmoon has a faster TTK with the 2-shot, and is far more accurate at range. Body shots do more damage than Thorn body shots do, so it's less punishing if you miss. MIDA takes a steamy dump on Thorn at long range (not surprising; it's a Scout Rifle, long range is their thing). The Last Word and the Vex are the kings of close range. If you can't kill a Thorn user up close with em, you aren't playing correctly. Sounds harsh, but true. Thorn is a powerful weapon in team engagements, where the poison can keep the enemy on the defensive constantly. At that, it excels. At any other role, other weapons will outshine it. The reason we see so much Thorn hatred is that the gun is very easy to do "decent" with. The poison ensures that even mediocre players will pose some threat. But does that mean it should be nerfed? At high level play, Thorn is by no means king. So should the gun be nerfed out of the top-range tier just because it's such a menace in random matchmade Crucible? I sure as hell don't think so. And this is coming from someone who would use a Red Death, or hell even Hawkmoon, long before I'd use a Thorn.
-
I'm not gunna lie I seriously votes for the it's my crutch in pvp option, because well... It is... If I'm doing bad I switch to it. Everyone does. It's a sniper. How can no one who uses it besides me see it has extremely op range and just admit that. Keep the poison -blam!- it but nerf the range
-
They should just buff auto rifles and leave everything alone. They nerfing buffing and tweaking has made crucible almost unbearable. There's no balance which is what they tried to get.
-
Thorn is earned and should be treated as such. Like any weapon, Thorn has downfalls; you just have to learn to successfully exploit them. Just think on that for a while. Play around with strategies. ToO is a great place to do so as Thorn is rampant. I use Thorn. I love it, but I don't know if I can even call it my favorite weapon as there's game-changing aspects about so many others as well.
-
I used to use Thorn, but I recently discovered that it isn't the best. I outgun Thorn with my Hawkmoon 3/5 times. Thorn isn't really OP, but the DoT should fade when the user dies, to make it fair.
-
Because we asked for it to be buffed. I think we should just deal with it.
-
Edited by Knight Raime: 6/4/2015 2:39:21 AMI think it's fine as is. But I wouldn't be opposed to a recoil increase or rate of fire decrease. I'm just mainly worried that if it does get nerfed we'd have another auto rifle situation
-
When thorn is nerfed, do you really think everything will be balanced? Before the auto rifle Nerf, nobody cared about thorn. But when SUROS was gone, people just found the next best weapon. If thorn gets nerfed, there's just going to be another "OP" gun. It's a cycle.
-
I'm not sure what the answer is. I which there was a way to truly "Balance" weapons in Crucible. I don't think there really is a way. They NERF this and people use that. Players will always use the weapon that works the best.
-
I don't think it is better than everything. It is better for a play style people like to use for the most part, so it has a large following. I think the range of Red Death gives it a much better chance at a farther range. Thorns can't get me from a far and I get 2 shots to the head and they're dead. It all depends how you are going to play it. And what is on your team to keep you in your comfort zone. Just my opinion. I really like some other guns.
-
Sorry bro if you don't have a thorn you don't realize it's not op cause it actually takes skill to use because of bad recoil
-
I picked other. Because it sets a bad precedent that any weapon that rides to the top will be slammed down. And there will always be a weapon that is on top. If Bungie based nerfing on popularity them all guns will literally be nerf guns and crucible will be a melee fest.
-
Edited by Zazmar: 6/4/2015 12:59:44 AMThere will always be "that" gun. Nerfing one won't stop the bitching.
-
I think it's fun to kick Thorn users ass with TLW.
-
Queenbreakers bow...problem solved
-
It should get a (very slightly like 1-2 damage) need to the DoT, then it should be reverted to the pre DB six round, terrible stability, and 30 year reload version
