It's a tactical maneuver used by the UNSC Iroquois which basically made the covenant shoot themselves take out they're shields and then be hit by a nuke/ archer missile salvo

The space battles in that are pretty bad ass, but we also see how the spartans were more elite in a group. Master chief I believe is truly way more badass as a teenager.
