Rome and Persia are my two favorites. Their cultures and architectures were fantastic
English
-
Persia did everything the roman did except they didn't have a massive army of Slaves and what the built still exsists today
-
I know they did (history major) but they're both still my favorites.
-
I still favor Persia
-
Understandable. I need to do more reading on Persia. Such a majority of western history begins with the Roman Empire. Which is saddening there is so much more to learn
-
To say history starts with Rome is a disservice to your self
-
I'm not saying that? I'm saying a lot of history classes reference Rome and Greece over the eastern empires. Sorry for the bad wording
-
I knew what you are saying it is just the Greeks and Romans disgraced their history as did the British
-
Ah I see what you are saying now. Do you happen to like the British empire at all? Or no? I took a class on them and it was actually rather interesting
-
They pillaged India when no one else would
-
Lol. I mainly meant their political scene. But yes the British empire did mess up India. A book you may be interested is: Ghosts of Empire by Kwasi Kwarteng
-
Okey but to be honest all they did was conquer primitive societies and they didn't do anything for the people they conquered
-
Kwarteng's book talks about how the British Empire messed up so many places in the world. Pretty interesting especially how it affected modern conflicts and problems
-
They screwed the middle east
-
Oh man so much
-
So hard great job Britians you destroyed the fall back of when the west falls
-
-
When europe falls in power the Middle East rises but the screwed over the Middle East by drawing boundaries by what would look the best on a map and thankfully america was able to take their place.
