Gjallarhorn is dividing the community
Destiny is a great game, with a great community. I have enjoyed this game more than any other in the last few years and have greatly enjoyed grouping up with guardians both random and friend. Destiny players are among the best, most helpful, most inclusive I have encountered.
As someone who loves this game I am sad to have observed over the last few weeks that Gjallarhorn is dividing the community.
People are being kicked from LFG-type groups for not having it. PoE bosses are extremely difficult without it. PoE tactics are being developed which solely rely on it. Scheduling clan runs is difficult to accommodate those without it. Worst of all it is encouraging elitism and division, and runs contrary to your previously stated aims of not making one weapon overpowered as to dominate the game.
Please either make Gjallarhorn available to all, nerf it slightly or release / buff other weapons to provide an equivalent alternative . Don't allow the legend to spoil the game.

Yeah, I had a 34 PoE game pretty much stolen from me because the dude needed lead and then he was like " eh sorry guys my clan is coming, they have gjallarhorn, have fun!"

It's a really tough situation we're in right now. You're right about everything you said. This weapon has put a massive rift in the community. But they can't nerf it. They just can't. It's power is what makes it so standout. But for that reason, it would also be a bad idea for everyone to have it. It would break PvE like the last word breaks PvP. Everyone having Gjallarhorn would make any boss fight an absolute joke. People getting rejected from LFG groups for not having Ghorn is a bunch of shit. That's not fair to exclude those who haven't been blessed by RNG. But at the same time, it's a smart tactic for LFG! You're trying to build the most effective team with as little information as possible, so of course a large percentage of teams will have this requirement. Idk I really do see both sides. Honestly, I think the best solution is to only make it available to top tier players. Maybe you should only be able to wield it with 3000+ grimoire? Or maybe tie it to a super difficult solo quest? Maybe you could only get it from a vendor at the lighthouse? Or something that would make a much smaller percent of players own it, but only give it to the top players. This way, it would give us something further in the end game to chase, and less people would own it, so requiring your LFG team to have Gjallarhorns would become an unreasonable request. Short of a solution like that though, idk how it gets fixed.

Start a NO GHORN thread .. Go without .. all the new rocket launchers can be rolled with tracking and if your patient and have lots of motes you can get what ever elemental damage you want.. Cluster bombs and tracking .. I have a pax Totalus with that's now my go too rocket launcher . Also don't overlook other tactics and exotics .. There was a team doing Skolas with only the 4 Horseman's and since weapons of light does not work on rocket launchers I saw a vid of guys using LDR 5001 and other high crit snipers talking down Skolas in 42 seconds .. Don't get to hung on on GHorn ..

Lol... Got forced as a boomer distractor on hard crota. 3 365 gallys on lvl 33 and 34 guardians wasnt enaugh, they wanted a 4 and I didnt have one :( I was pissed. I can even do sword but no... Boomer duty lol

It doesn't need a nerf, nor should it become available to all players. It's RNG. what the -blam!- is wrong with this community? - why is it so many people base their Destiny gaming experience down to one weapon. It's a -blam!-ing weapon. So many of these forum idiots have managed without one until PoE was released, yet now it's a big deal that they don't have one so over to the forums you all come crying and begging. You paid for the content, not the rewards. If PoE is too hard, try something else. If that doesn't work, change tactics again. Don't use LFG, make some online friends, how's about that? FYI: Forums Crying won't make you friends, so the ever lasting loop continues for you fools.

the ghorn is not over powered really, yes it is the best rocket launcher in terms of single target damage. However, it does take an exotic slot which makes it balanced. Bungie can't do any thing about how the community plays this game. You nerf ghorn and then you will get something like "normal VoG level 34 only" or some other bullshit. People will always try to find what they think will make their game the easiest, and then require it.

Why don't you make a group exclusively for people that want to run the PoE and don't have a Gjallarhorn??? I think it is stupid to be elitist because you have one, but if this guys want to get it done fast then they have the right to only accept people with it. Create the group and all the people going in there will never be kicked for not having one.

It's not the weapon, it's the people. It's a monkey see, monkey do world based on some stupid youtube video. The ghorn alone while nice is not a game changer. Multiples with Titan weapon blessings is another story. But so would Dragons Breath and Truth if applied in the same way. Even multiple IB's can devistate a boss with the weapon plessings. Combine this with 2 hunters with Celestial Nighthawk that deal 19000 damage each. There are more than one way to beat the boss quickly and it's not always the ghorn.

Sometimes they take you without asking first but then later always ask if you have one. When you say no you don't hear anything, but you can feel the wheels turning and sense the Eye rolls. And you know they are thinking " is it too late to boot this guy?" I agree it's a problem. Even if it's not op and you can play without it as I have, other people still believe it is and their decision making is always based around it.
