2 major flaws in your post:
- you don't acknowledge the Chiappa Rhino which has a fully functioning layout matching the way HCs work in destiny. Pretty much disproves your point about the whole higher hammer-lower barrel setup
- ammo is digitized in the lore and doesn't form into actual matter until it's leaving the gun, so technically, there doesn't need to be a direct connection between the mag and barrel

No. The Chiappa Rhino has a false hammer. It acts as a manual cocker, not in the same sense as a traditional hammer. Which given the animations in Destiny, does not appear to be the way the hand cannons work. Especially when looking at something like The Last Word, which given its unique animations, appears to function much the same as a standard single-action revolver. As for ammo being digitized... it doesn't matter. The weapons are obviously based on modern firearms. As such, I expect the same thought to go into their design as you would a modern firearm... or at least make them different for a reason, as seen with the Stranger's Rifle.

You're thinking the single action Chiappa. The dual action doesn't use a false hammer
-
Yes it does. All of the Rhinos do. The only difference between the single-action and double-actions is whether or not the trigger cocks the weapon. You cannot have a hammer aligned with the top of the cylinder that strikes a round in the bottom.
