This class of guns need to be primaries. They always spawn with ammo, just like primaries, making the need for secondary ammo irrelevant. They will now dominate everything. Goodbye snipers and shotguns and that other weapon type nobody bothers with, we now have constant ammo with our new sidearms.
The whole point of the secondary class is powerful weapons with less ammo, that is now ruined by literally putting primaries in the secondary slot.
So bungie fix this mistake immediately and put secondaries in the primary slot where they belong.

You do know what "sidearm" means, right? It means that it's a last resort weapon for when your primary weapon, like an assault rifle or scout rifle, runs out of ammunition and you go to your backup weapon, a sidearm. That's how any solder is outfitted. At least usually, unless they have a special task like blowing off locks and opening doors, in which case they would also have a shotgun or something similar. I know I'm gonna be rocking one of those lovely sidearms in my secondary slot unless I'm doing something important that requires a sniper or shotgun.

Primaries are your go to gun. Secondaries are those in the moment guns. You cannot use it as a primary.

Handcannons were originally Special Weapons but they were changed to Primary Weapons late in development. I think it would have been great if they had stayed that way. We should also have more types of actual [b]sidearms[/b] like [u]semi-automatic pistols[/u]: magazine fed pistol with really high capacity but much less damage than a Handcannon. Still effective at medium. And [u]machine pistols[/u]: even less damage than a semi-auto but have a really high rate of fire. Could be effective in close quarters with more range than a shotgun.

It'll be more of a quick finisher weapon than a damage dealer. Think about it, there currently is not a mid range secondary that can be drawn and fired effectively when you run out of ammo when shooting an enemy. All the secondaries function as primary damage dealers, this class will be a collection of "NITC" styled weapons.
