Dismantled 2Exotic weapons, and 1 Exotic breast plate no shards

I needed to upgrade mu read death, and a gauntlet, so I went and dismantles an extra invective, icebreaker, and starfire p, with no shards from them is this something new in the game where you can only buy the shards from XUR Help!!!!!
