You think matchmaking is the solution. Ok after reading your post I can see why. However, the world has moved on since Halo 3 and it ain't as pretty. They'll be trolls out there... Everyone who posts an anti - Matchmaking post is an elite bastard who doesn't understand our pain. Isn't that a bit unfair when their argument has just as much validity. Here's a couple of tales of my experience MM from the Heroic Weekly. Got to the boss on Winters Run, a fairly easy strike with void burn to boot. These guys I was MM with were pretty ok but one guy obviously thought he had an invincible buff on because he ran into the middle of the arena....and promptly died. Other guy decided he would run a suicide misson to rescue our fallen comrade... and then also died. There was no way in hell I could reach them in the middle of a group of adds with Arkon stomping around. So I ended up soloing it from that point on. That was the first tale. The second was much more horrible. I ended up MM to a duo, one of which was the biggest tit I ever had the misfortune of playing with. He clearly thought it was hilarious to run into a room full of adds on Will of Crota of all strikes. Kept dying so his mate and myself would have to revive him. I might have lived with that but nearly every time Tit's mate went to rescue him, he also died. So I had to keep clearing before I could revive them both. In all honesty I should have left but I had faith they would be a lot more alert when we got to Omnigul. I was wrong. It got worse. I ended up more or less soloing the boss fight because Tit and his friend had gotten themselves killed in the most awkward of places you could think of. Tit messaged me half way through which considering how busy I was didn't read until after I'd completed the strike. It read "hurry up" . I replied in case he hadn't noticed I more or less carried them both through it. He then called me a pussy and said they were having fun playing it their way, after all we were all 32's. I ended this brief exchange with that this "pussy" got nearly all the kills and didn't die once. Enjoy your strange coins, you didn't earn them. The point to all that. The MM lobby want to raid with the likes of that every week? What you all seem to forget is most of the regular raiders use LFG and will continue to do so if MM is implemented, optional or not. They want a team they can rely on, not a random idiot who can't walk up the stairs without summoning the Oversoul. Whether you like it or not the whole team needs a mic. How many will come equipped with one on a MM raid? Not as many as I would like that's for sure. You talk about MM as the only way to gain friends to play with. I never got one through a MM match or strike. They came from random Tower invites and LFG sites. There is more than one way to skin a cat as they say. Bite the bullet and try LFG or 100. Not every experience I had from using LFG was fruitful I will admit but even so I got a regular circle of friends to raid with out of it. I will end this monologue by saying I am not against MM as long as it's optional. However, be warned everything you wish won't turned out like you think it will.

There will always be assholes and trolls, just like there will always be people texting and driving or driving under the influence. Does that mean we shouldn't go out on the roads? Sometimes you just have to live and not try to protect everyone from themselves. If you can't deal with the possibility of auto accidents, don't drive. If you can't deal with the occasional troll or douche bag, don't use matchmaking. I played the weekly today and some asshat killed me with their sparrow while waiting for the last gate before Omnibitch to open. I RTOd had to replay about 8 minutes of the strike and beat it with the next group. The main argument I've seen against it is that Omg just use LFG sites. Tell me honestly, what is the difference on finding random teammates on a separate site or in game? Random is random. You've got the exact same chance of ending up playing with assholes. The only difference is Bungie didn't have to pay anyone to implement it in game and it's an extra annoyance that is unnecessary. Lastly, as to your warning, everyone said the exact same shit about WoW's LFR. Played hundreds of raids with randoms, left exactly one. Most people aren't assholes, the assholes just tend to get all the attention. It's pretty -blam!-ing sad to have our experience limited because a few people might be dicks.
