It costs me 300,000 to level up lol. There are some well worn farming spots later in the game. In the interest of saving you time, I'd advise you look up "Giant Lord farming" on YouTube, and not worry too much about grinding levels until you get there. At NG+8 (7?) I was getting almost 500,000 a kill. I've got a foolproof way to beat him now, it's just putting in time.

  • Alright, I'll look that up. It would be nice if the enemies didn't permanently die after a few times. Thank you.

  • In Majula, to the right of the sewer where you go to get to Heides tower of flame there is a footpath leading up the hill and around back. At the end of the path is an altar for a covenant called the Covenant of Champions. You can join it from the beginning of the game. Among other things it makes enemy spawning infinite. It does however make the enemies a bit tougher, the upside being that you get more souls for killing them. I went through the game and only farmed each area until the enemies stopped spawning and I ended the game somewhere around 180. At that level I was more than a match for anything the game threw at me (although I'm told the dlcs are harder, I haven't had the pleasure yet). Don't be in too big of a hurry to level up because there are enemies that basically disregard how many stats and toys that you have and will -blam!- you up whether you are level 5 or 500. Learn how to fight well, then all your extra levels will just make sure you can take down your enemies faster.

  • Oh, I didn't know it made spawning infinite, I thought it just made them more difficult. So the game gets harder after each NG+, does it stop at ten? It seems like it would be pretty ridiculous. Also can I leave a covenant for free from the talking cat in Majula, and does it remove the effects of the covenant? Sorry I'm new to all this.

  • I was new a month ago too. It's lots to take in. Yeah I have one bonfire past 7 right now and if you walked in there not knowing what to expect you'd be dead lol, it gets crazy. You CAN swap from cov to cov, but I believe that a penalty can be imposed on you whereby the players from a former cov or a dark spirit will come and try to off you. The priest at the Brightstone Cove Tseldora can absolve you of sin so it's not a big deal, just watch out for it. You can check sin on your character sheet (you might want to fact check the weight of sin, and how to get it, it's never been an issue for me so IDK). All this being said though, people have speed run this game at incredibly low levels so it's more about how you play than what you own. Things that seem tough now will be a walk in the park once you understand that every enemy calls for a slightly different strat. (Top though, most tough enemies are a sucker for a two handed longsword heavy stab, with good stamina you can -blam!- them up REAL good with it. Heide knights and Dragon keepers are pie with this move)

  • FYI the cat in Majula can let you out of your current covenant without a sin penalty.

  • I wasn't sure about that. It seems pointless to even impose a sin penalty if you can just have it absolved for free by an NPC placed in such a highly traveled area of the game, but there you have it I guess...
