Well I recommend finding a weapon you like and start upgrading it . You really don't need to upgrade your armor because as you stated your pretty much gonna replace it anyway. Don't know where your're at in the game but best way to get souls, fight bosses/help others with bosses- true story

  • I like the halberd, I'm not the greatest with it though. I'm using the fire longsword or the heide knight one when the other breaks. I'm not very far in the game... I'm level 70 and I need to go through the huntsmans copse and kill the skeleton lords.

  • No halberd man. DS 1 I was a super fan of the halberds but in ds2 they butchered it moveset and damage. My halberd at 8+ does the same damage as my 1+ craftsman hammer. Those stat #s are bs. The energy consumed just for one enemy is bad. I eventually have up on the halberd because of my craftsman hammer. Same damage except way better on the armored enemies.... Less energy consumed, stuns, and faster attack rate. Go with santieres spear. Much better range and more damage even though stats wise 8+Hal better (halberd stats broken).

You have to hit the enemy with the axe end of the halberd to get 2-3 times the damage. The highest hitting halberd would be the mastodon halberd on a quality build, though dark weapon builds are always more powerful (you're a fgt if u use one).

  • No the first chop does meager damage it's the follow up stab that does double the damage... Still not worth the stamina to execute. At like 40 stamina I will have to use all stamina to kill a turtle but with craftsman hammer it takes 3 hits.. Much faster and only half the energy (yes I am aware of hammers>halberd against armor however even flesh units damage is still the same Yhea I made a dark build recently. You can call it whatever but for someone like me who tanked DS... It's a completely new thing to roll and actually have to run back at times. Plus, chime hammer seems to do well in the sunken city dlc (in there now first time). My trusty craftsman hammer isn't doing well and same for hexes but that hammer 2 hit ko. I'm glad I went in there as a hexer because of those ghost knights... Don't take any phys damage but I can use hexes. Without it I would have never gone as far as I have (haven't finished and yea I know hot the bodies to weaken them but I couldn't find bodies at times)
