You gotta get titanite shards and souls to level up your weapons and armor, and I highly advise leveling up your equipment and making it a priority to do so

I should level up my armor.... But I just replace it afterwards, it seems like a waste in the beginning of the game.

Yeah, personally I level my weapons as much as I can, I'll get my weapons to atleast +5 before I level my armor in less I have spare shards
