I always thought Roxas was a little soft too, I liked Riku as his dark demeanour really fit the tone of the game as it depicts "happy" universes with a twisted undercut.

Sora is the soft one. Roxas when through the struggles and had his mind got scrambled a lot as memories went in and out. That made him cold turning his friends away. He's not tough like Riku,but he's no softie
