I am a collector of the hand cannons. I have played extensively with each. Thorns aim assist is ridiculously high. Hawkmoons aim assist is not as high, but it is still up there. Thorn is OP only because of the DOT, and rate of fire, along with the aim assist. If you take away the DOT it would be no better than TLW and would pale in comparison to Hawkmoon.
Hawkmoon is a 2 headshot kill, 3 shot kill with only 1 headshot, or if proc 1 head 1 body. But, it has lower rate of fire, and less aim assist.
Thorn fires faster and has extremely high aim assist, which results in more headshots, and with DOT- its a 2 shot headshot kill. DOT is the difference.
If I get off 2 gheleon demise headshots in the time you get off 2 thorn headshots, you will go down first, I will go down shortly after because of DOT, when in reality you got out gunned by a less aim assisted lower rate of fire gun, but still get rewarded. This is why it is OP.
But, with this being said, it was much harder to get in game, and much harder to level up because of it being an exotic. And, it is an exotic, which means it should be OP. It's exotic for a reason.

Aww... When I could have used red death and any other two shot gun and you'd be dead and I wouldn't... Hmm you sound pretty stupid at the moment

you need a reading comprehension course.

To say a gun is OP means that it outperforms EVERY OTHER GUN.. TTK, aim assist, whatever your parameters may be. If you think getting off two gheleon's shots in the time it takes to get two thorn shots makes the thorn OP (by killing you regardless) then you need a little lesson in critical thinking... There are far faster killing weapons (TTK) than thorn; the TTK for a double headshot till the DOT kills you is super super long... I could have three or even four shot you with many other weapons in the time it takes for you to die. This your OP argument is nullified by almost half of the weapons in the game (even more so by the other two shot/burst weapons) Comprehend this? Or do I need to break it down further..

The fact that you think that I am stating that the gun itself is OP, which I am not. I should have clarified that a little better, in that it may seem OP, and by overpowered I simply mean that it can change the outcome of a firefight if it is used against another primary weapon that has less aim assist and no DOT. It is clearly overused, much like suros was back in the day, which also makes it seem OP because of the number of people using it. Without the nerf on ARs I doubt it would have been used as much this IB thus negates this conversation. It is an exotic, and it should be observed as such. Personally, I don't feel it should be changed at all. I think that some other exotics need attention, after having obtained them, pale in comparison to some legendary weapons. Exotics should feel like Thorn and Hawkmoon, Exotic.
Thorn is OP only because of the DOT, and rate of fire, along with the aim assist.
Might want to remove this then lol... I was just being a dick with my first post... People who use the DOT as a big point for saying the Thorn is OP, make me laugh; with any other two shot weapon they would be dead before their second or third shot could kill me. with Thorn you at least have a chance to trade. It is popular (finally), but i do agree with you that if they just buffed AR's again people would be just fine with how it is... Currently it's a pulse rifle vs hand cannon crucible. (with a little shotgun play mixed right in!)

Hawkmoon is a 3 shot kill with no lucky bullet. Just adding that in there.

Hawkmoon requires more skill than Thorn to be effective with IMO.

Totally agree.
