I'm not sure why crybabies have an issue with thorn. I ran into a TON of thorns during the week of IB and I never had an issue. I ran a Dead Orbit Venation III with rangefinder and send it, and I could go toe-to-toe in any 1 on 1 with thorn. Its not OP at all, its been nerfed so that the DOT damage isn't debilitating anymore. ANY Handcannon with 2-3 well-placed headshots will down you in crucible. If you're having trouble with thorn, maybe you should join the HC master race. Seriously thorn isn't even that good, I have one maxed and I tried it, and I went back to my Venation III HC within 5 minutes.
