To all those 'thorn is not OP' posts.
You guys always say its not the gun, but its the player's fault. I disagree. This gun can put the best crucible player to the ground with 2 headshots. This gun IS overpowered and you thorners just don't want it nerfed.
If you want to flame me for not being good in crucible, go ahead. Idc, my skill is higher than yours anyway. I still have to see an flamer with a higher kd here...
Edit: all these scrubs flaming don't want their thorn nerfed.... ;)
Edit: most of you guys could only whine about 'lucky' headshots, so i changed that.
Yet another Edit: i'm not saying that the thorn owns me, i outgun them 80% of the time. But that doesn't take away the fact that its too powerful. A simple stability or range nerf should suffice.

3 RepliesHere's the thing though. If it's OP because it can down in two headshots, you have to be good enough to land those two consecutive headshots. 1. Not that many people who use it are that good with it, and 2. Even the people who are good with it aren't ALWAYS going to land two headshot kills. Now, I'm a Thorn user myself. I'm not that great of a crucible player, but oh well. I'm more on the side of saying it shouldn't be nerfed, but if it did get nerfed, they should just slightly nerf about 3 or 4 parts of the gun, instead of focusing on point and nerfing that part of it to the ground. Now my question to you, OP. Can we have a decent conversation about this, or are you one of those people that will bitch at someone with a different opinion?

6 RepliesI say this on every thorn post I come across. The thorn is an exotic that drops only from missives, on top of this if you don't cheese it the bounty takes an average of about 9 hours that's if you even have a void weapon!! It's a gun that requires a lot of devotion and time to get and is supposed to be op. Personally I am a huge fan of my thorn not because it's good but because I earned it. Many hours were spent in crucible grinding away for this gun and because of that I never want to see it get nerfed. Any gun you actually have to work for instead of it just dropping is going to be good, that's just the way it is.

I tried thorn I suck with it. I think I'm not pulling the trigger fast enough to make the most of its high fire rate and stability. Thorn is just very in your face because your whole screen turns green etc.

So everyone brought thorn to ib, so what? I brought a mix of hawk, suros, vex, red, maybe others, was drunk a little. Fact is I usually k/d'd between 1-3 even with 80% of people using thorn. Its op, so is everything else...

8 RepliesOnly good PvP players pose a threat with the Thorn, it's a very rare occasion that I get killed in 3 shots by the Thorn. Most players can't get headshots with it.

It is the player on their accuracy... Landing two head shot is on how the play can his aim same with all other guns, I've been using the monte carlo its pretty beast if you can land all shots in the head

Thorn is not overpowered. Auto rifles should have never been nerfed. That is the real issue. Bungie felt they were overused and nerfed them, while simultaneously buffing pulse rifles. They could have simply buffed the pulse rifles and auto rifles would not have been used as often anyway, while still being a viable weapon in crucible and against Thorn.

1 ReplyI have the weapon and I don't care if it's nerfed. People are crying about it like its the only weapon that they are good with, and that is pretty sad. If it wasn't op, you'd complain about keeping it how it is because you like it, but people are making it seem like they desperately need it. At this point, idc. The fact that some weapon is always being nerfed/buffed is pathetic, and it shows that Destiny isn't balanced. Honestly, I don't think it will ever be.

The only reason thorn has everybody so up in arms is because it's the only DoT weapon in the game (minus grenades and solar throwing knives) I don't necessarily think it's overpowered, but the way it's used more often then not is what irks me. Player to player I outgun thorn with the Lash or Red Death quite often, but when a player smacks two bullets and runs and waits for the DoT, that's when it's lame. A nerf won't do any good, when this game dropped thorn was horrible (trust me, my first exotic) and I still wrecked with it in pvp. It's just the dot. Not the range or fire rate or anything. A suitable counter would be more weapons with a DoT effect, not nerfing the only weapon that has one.

If you know how to battle, know how to strafe, know how to duck for cover and use your surroundings...basically 'Know how to PVP"... then you wouldn't be here complaining about it. If you're going to stand toe to toe like an old cowboy showdown and take it in the face, then yes, you're going to bleed out. Learn how to PVP.

4 RepliesPoint is the user got two head shots on you if they were using red death you would be dead already. The thorn has given you a few extra moments to throw a grenade and finish them off.

7 RepliesBy your logic, no land beyond is also overpowered since it kills in one headshot. Thorn is hard to aim, so therefore it is not overpowered. An amazing player will land two headshots most of the time while an average player will try to spam body shots.

4 RepliesWith the nerfs to range and accuracy the Hand Cannons received, it can be difficult to land those headshots even from mid-range. This is coming from someone who has Thorn, but pretty much doesn't use it in Crucible in favor of trying different things. That and I can avoid the thorn pretty well. Use Suros or Red Death (usually Red Death) to counteract it.
