As vast as our universe is, there's no way we could be alone. I doubt we will ever see them though, as we cannot overcome certain obstacles.

It just seems like they are insurmountable for now and probably a long time. Physics is not our friend.

This is true but what we have right now (or at least what the public knows) is nowhere near advanced enough. There's the issue of time it takes to travel through space, the resources needed for travel, and the fact that traveling at an excessive amount of speed will turn organic matter into jelly.
