We do not evolve from apes. Apes are our cousins. We share an ancestor.
Imagine a tree. The common ancestor is the base of the tree. then the branches are apes, humsns, monkeys, etc. Apes are a result of evolution going down a different path.
Everything is still evolving. It's hard to see though withe the human race, because we only have a few thousands years of records to go off of. Some change we can see however is things like height, bone structure, skin color, etc. Humans now are much taller and have a stronger bond structure than those even 400 years ago.
However, we can see this change more rapidly with species that reproduce more often, such as fruit flies.
