If you are in fact banned, I'm not surprised. The mods have been a bit "liberal" lately with the ban hammer. Bungie tasked them to keep the mobs at bay as much as possible so that they don't scare off any potential suckers... I mean, customers from buying the new DLC. I also think Bungie is trying to keep the pressure cooker lid on as tight as possible so the Shareholders don't notice that something is brewing.
